Re: affordable single stage

go to any body supply shop in your area. they can walk you through what works with what and what companys have a one stage paint in the color you want. i used a ppg bc/cc system. avenger blue pearl mixed with cobalt blue metallic. it is an awesome color, i got primer, base, and clear with all the reducers for $660. it really isn't that expensive to use a bc/cc system.

ppg, dupont, limco all make single stage paints in a variety of colors. you really need to look at the paint books that the stores have. they will set you up with all of the other things that you will need for that system. also FYI when looking in the books for your color make sure you walk it outside with the book and look at the colors in the sun. the colors are really different outside in the sun

Re: affordable single stage

Hit up your local NAPA and get the house brand (Martin Senour) in an Acrylic enamel. Solid colors you can get under $200.00 for everything. Metallics can get a bit pricey though.

Re: affordable single stage

Something I havent heard anyone say here is that Single stage metallics require more control, as well as a more controlled environment. You need a little experience at spraying to lay down a nice single stage metallic paintjob...Especially acrylic enamels... and your garage probably ain't the place to do it... You don't buff a single stage metallic...

Re: affordable single stage

look into Kirker Automotive Finishes.

for the money these guys can not be beat. Its no topshelf stuff, but its not like the bottom of the barrel nason, omni either. Most colors can be had and you can use a stabilizer to turn there acrylic enamel into a basecoat. They have a lot of different products as well.

Transtar makes some good refinish products as well.

Can't find much cheaper than this - at this price, you could repaint every two years and still be ahead of the game a decade later:

Teal metallic/Daytona metallic are close.
