Pics of "completed" car as well as a wax question
I haven't updated with pictures since the day i got the car back from the shop, so i figured I would do that now. I still have some work to do to it, but its getting much closer to where i want it to be. The thing was a wreck when I got it almost 2 years ago, so its been a lot of hard work and headaches...
I got it out of the shop on June 1st. The body man told me to wait a month before waxing it. With the long weekend coming up, I want to do it now, to seal the paint and protect it. I'm wondering what the best wax to use would be. Its a Dupont Base coat, Clear coat. I believe it has 4 coats of clear on top of the stock red, with a metallic pearl added. I'm not sure what the best way to do this would be! any waxing advice would be great!!
Let me know what you think of the car! I won a third place trophy at a camaro show for third gens a couple weeks ago.
(I attached a picture of the rear of the car. Check out the license plate! Look familiar?! ... I also wanted to point out that I STILL get asked questions of what the plate means... even tho its spelt out about 12 inches away diagonal to the corners on the bumper!!!)
Enjoy and Thanks for any wax advice in advance!

I've always had good luck with Mothers, and Zaino brand stuff. Just use CLEAN applicators, and a microfiber towel to remove it. I would do it in the shade, or in a garage as well otherwise it dries too fast. By the way the car looks awesome!

Thanks for the reply, and the compliment on the car!
I've heard of people using 'staged' waxes... would that be an option, or is a single stage wax better / okay ? etc?

The car looks awesome. Kudos.
A few things I would do is to go to a body shop supply, buy a good clay bar, and get buy some polish that's safe a fresh paint. I just took care of my neighbors 89 IROC-Z that he got repainted. I used a Zaino clay bar on it, used 3M polish to buff the car out and Wizard's hand polish for the top coat. The clay bar removed any overspray, the buffer removed any small scratches left over from the painter doing his wetsanding, and the hand polish sealed and protects the paint. I would still hold off on the wax. Polish will not last but will give a great shine. Be sure that it's safe for the fresh paint.

i've got my car painted about 3 different times this year (long story short, don't go to maaco ever) but i've got it back about 6 day's ago.. as far as waxing goes, i've asked the bodyshops around here and all of them say as long as the wax doesn't have silicon in it it's safe to use

Car looks great!
If your painter told you not to wax for a month, then don't. If you seal up the paint before it cures, it won't cure correctly. A month won't hurt it. My hood and front bumper were painted a few months ago and I still haven't waxed yet. I really like Clearkote products, they do a great job. They're very easy to apply and remove (even in the sun) and the shine is awesome.

Thank you,
Yes, thats why i waited so long to do it... it has been just over a month now... I might do what the above post said, and just polish it, and wait another little while, i dont want to do it too soon, but dont want to wait... he said i can wash it right away, but i've even waited to do that! its getting dirty tho, and I can't take it any more! it needs a good washing, and i figured either polish or wax since it will be 4.5 weeks this weekend...

it sounds like the paint was not baked. if it was not. you deff dont want to put any chemicals on it. it will destroy the paint

zymoil does not have silicon
I use it right away after buffing with perfec-it and foam pad polish
its a really good wax but you want to do one panel at a time

Beautiful car man just my 2 cents, but i work for a ambulance service whenver we have a truck remounted the company tells us no wax of any kind for 60 days that way the paint has ample time to cure appropriately. As far as wax goes im a Mothers NXT wax fan myself especially for a paint job that does not need any buffing or any kind trash or oxidation removal it goes on easy and removes easy and has a great shine.

I would wait before waxing. Your car looks great and not having wax on it right now won't stop it from looking great. A month or longer is really not that far away. You really want that paint to cure.
