paint stripper on bumper covers

Ok i want to start getting my car ready for paint and the front bumper has a bunch of paint chipped off and i was wondering if i could use the paint stipper that comes in aresol cans on the bumper without actually hurting it since it is not made of metal?

If paint stripper won't work is there a better way then sanding the whole darn thing down?

any help would be great!

SEM Urethane bumper stripper worked the best for me. You might get a little swelling of the bumper but it'll go back down after some time. You'll still need to sand but the stripper will get 99 percent of the paint off. Just use a scraper of some sort, maybe a plastic scraper.

yea do not use regular paint stripper on anything plastic. get the stuff made for bumpers or you wont have a bumper left

Re: paint stripper on bumper covers

go to harbor ferieght and tools . buy the heat gun for 9.99. buy a metal scraper. don't woory your not going to do any heavy scraping at all. take scraper and the heat gun.position the heat gun directly on the scraper. with scraper at an angle and the gun set on high. slowly move the scraper down the bumber. it will melt the paint just enough as you move it down the bumber to where it will take of the paint and if u do it slow enough it will remove the primer also. doing it on my bumber now. screw that paint striper crap. ypu'll only need a finish/prep sand in the end.
----------
oh yea. have the gun closer to the tip off the scraper.
