Removal of Ground Effects....help...please.

Hi Guys,
After a very long hiatus, the next phase of project 'black death' has begun.
The car is in my garage, and getting ready for paint prep work.
I started removing all of the body panels, but when I got to the door GFX, I am stuck on how the hell to remove this part!
I removed the IROC badge from the front side of the GFX and took out those screws. I also removed the screws on top of the GFX, and now, something is holding it near the rear fender.
The only bolt that I can see is located inside the fender. I can kinda see it when looking in from inside the car, but there is no way in hell that any tool can get in there to take this bolt out. The only way to take it out would be to make a bore hole through the metal just to get to that bolt. It does not make sense.
I am wondering if the rear part of the GFX just kinda clips in somehow?
Any advice would be appreciated.
I have a 1990 IROC vert.
Thanks guys!
Tommy

On my 85 Z28 after i took the bolts out behind the emblem, the bolts on the bottom, and the screws on top, I tilted the gfx up and down and it wiggled loose out of some kind of holder. My 91 was the same thing except the rear had a nut that you had to get from the inside of the car(take the sail panel out). Hope this helps.

Yes, I did take off the sail panel, but there is just welded metal behind it.
There is really no way to get to the inside by the rear tire except for cutting a hole through the metal supports.
I'm not sure if convertible GFX were made different than coupes?

Re: Removal of Ground Effects....help...please.

im not sure... well the door pieces have like 5 bolts on them.. one on each end of the door and like 3 or mabye 4 inside of the door. the rocker panels should have screws visibal when the door is open. Then if you remove the splash guard inside of the front fenders there is 2 bolts that hold the ground effect to the fender. On the inside there should be interior plastic that comes out where the back seats are. This gets you access to the 1/4 panel. There should be a hole that has access to the one bolt inside the quater panel so that you can get a ratchet onto the bolt. Believe its a 10mm. At least this is how mine off my 85 camaro were. I hope might have helped a little bit.

If you have the interior panel out (the whole peice beside the seat) you should see a peice of sound dampening material near the bottom that covers a hole you can get your hand through. Its just behind the door. I have a picture but its to big to post.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your help.
It appears that convertible GFX are different than normal coupe ones.
We did have to make an access hole on the inside of the sail panel to gain access to the bolts.
