emblems? pics
well heres my car with fresh paint all done by me over the past 6 months or so... turned out pretty good for my first paint job id say....
and i know my buddy got stainless emblems off ebay for the rocker panels but his car is dark dark black and they look amazing, idk which ones to get for my car
next question is i really have no clue as to what the car is, rs or z28 or just a base model, so im wondering if i would look cheesy if i were to put z28 emblems on it, would someone who really know their camaro's be able to tell its not a z? and if i wanted to kinda make it a clone what else would i really need to make it half decent?
haha one more question, where do i get the louvers for the hood? maybe a place that wont want a months pay for one, and also the grille, where do i get one that has just the fins in it? no holes and no writing or anything, just the fins?
any links or names of vendors would be greatly appreciated,
thanks guys!

Re: emblems? pics
with that hood it is very possible to be a z28, it looks just about right. I think get what you want.
as far as the louvers for the hood, your going to get raped. i would suggest to start hitting up the classifieds on here and checking your local junk yards.

Re: emblems? pics
check the RPO codes in the center compartment, that would tell you very easily what you have, and i'm not positive about specific models with camaro as i do firebirds mainly, but the VIN may have some clues, or it may just tell you that it's a camaro. I haven't a clue. Just some things to think about.

Re: emblems? pics
the rpo codes should tell you what it is. and yea, that car has the Z28 grill, i know that for a fact. but yea, you could easily pull off Z28 emblems.

Re: emblems? pics
well, when i got the car it was yellow, and the hood was a different shade of yellow at that, and then i found a pint of chromabase yellow in the back seat and that was pretty much the smoking gun haha anyways when i got it there were rs emblems on the rocker panels and nothing on the bumper cover, but im not even sure if the gfx were from a different car or what.... but im pretty sure its a mix of three or more cars, so should i go with the z28 emblems? and it wouldnt look cheesy? i just dont want it to look like a slapped z emblems on a base model car ya know? thanks for the replys guys!

Re: emblems? pics
only thing to my knowledge (like i said firebird guy here) that absolutely signified a base model or RS was a V6...you got a 350 from your info...it's got a Z28 hood...it's an 85 so the engine was a carbed 305 give or take so originality there don't really count...you got the gist of a Z28...i wouldn't worry about it...noone is gonna really notice you got the wrong sway bars...lol.

Re: emblems? pics
well none of the the drive train is original so that really dosent matter to me, i just didnt want it to look weird, but i guess ill go with the z emblems so that settles that.
so my next question is about the polished stainless emblems on ebay that just go on with two sided tape, how durable would those be? it seems like theyd fall off after a month or two
so where do i get the grille, the one i mentioned in the first post?

Re: emblems? pics
No that this matters now but if you have the RPO code Z28 its a Z28. With that hood and gfx you could pull off being a z28 anyways. Base models didnt have gfx to my knowledge. I dont believe RS was an option for 85 either. Its either a z28 or standard but with the hood louvers and gfx I would say z28.

Re: emblems? pics
I do not know why you would want to put the louvered grille on there, most people ditch them in favor of the IROC/Z-28 style grille with the fog light setup(I am one of them), but if you really want one, I have a mint condition one that I can sell you pretty cheap. Just to make sure we are on the same page, you are talking about this one, right?

Re: emblems? pics
if you are wanting to make it look more like a Z28 then I would stick with the grill that you have. The louvered grill was used on the RS cars.
Year One has the IROC hood louvers for $76 a piece.

Re: emblems? pics
I'd go w/ the none louvered grill also. My stock 85 Z28 came w/ a louvered grill and I hated it!
