What did C&C do to the frames?
Hey guys, I have an 87 Firebird with Cars & Concepts T-Tops installed, what I was wondering is what Cars & Concepts did to stiffen the chassis enough for 20 years of abuse?

Are you sure? That is a serious problem with me! If I had known that I may not have bought the car i guess sub frame connectors will be coming sooner than I thought.

Yea I guess so, that pisses me off I had a suspicion that they were after market when I bought the car because the kid I bought it from had T-tops from his trans am he crashed that he was going to give me but they didn't fit. I wish I had known about C&C then but I really didn't know anything about third gens at the time other than what relates to the sbc.
Are we sure about the frame?

I dont think C&C did anything to the "frame" for the cars, but I dont think that GM did either. For the convertables all the chassis' were stiffened, but not for the Ttops as far as i know. SFCs are a good idea for the body either way. I wouldnt be too concerned about them being aftermarket, I know some pretty powerful cars with aftermarket ttops and no problems.

The C&C t-top frame assembly looks pretty stout and is held in with countless 1/4 inch rivets. I would even go so far as to say it is possibly stronger than the factory t-top roof.

The C&C t-tops aren't as prone to leaking as the OEM ones, also. Get a pair of SFCs and you'll be good to go.

Re: What did C&C do to the frames?
I have read that verts and T-top cars have the same sub frame incorrect? and my T-tops leak really badly even after I siliconed them shut on the seal between them and the glass. My driver side window is broken so I can't speak for that side but the passenger side leaks in the back corner nearest the window all I can say is I wish I had a solid roof T-tops suck.
P.S. TJ the pic in your sig looks like it says 3.0 not 5.0 liter FI lol
