T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Has anybody bought this kit from Year One http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/f...ain2.asp?cat=G Part #CC818
It sounds like a good price but I wanted to know if it included the deflectors on the outside, the side weatherstrip on the t-top, and the long pieces that go from the a-pillar to the b-pillar. It says 8 piece and that is what is throwing me off. I thought there were only six pieces.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Even though it is from YearOne, I wouldn't buy aftermarket weatherstripping, especially t-top weatherstripping. I just replaced mine last weekend, and it sucked. I hope I never have to do that again. I bought GM weatherstripping and I had no issues at all with fitment.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
I am an auto body tech, so replacing the weatherstripping is no problem. It is something I deal with practically every day. I just refuse to pay almost $200 per side for gm pieces. Then you have to buy the deflectors and side strips.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Well, for GM repalcements, Year One has the Deflector priced at about $50 per side, the t-top to glass seal on the side for $133 per side, and the pieces that go from the a-pillar to the b-pillar for $205 a pair. They don't have any pictures on their site, which doesn't help. If I am off here let me know so I can keep my *** dry.

I just purchased the reproduction t-top seal kit, door seals, and rear hatch seal from hawks third gen. So I guess I will find out how good it is when it gets here.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
I bought my weatherstripping from the dealer. Both sides are discontinued, but GM still has stock of one side and the other side you'll have to get NOS from a dealer that has it in stock. I don't remember which side is which, but 10165494 list price is $120.48 and 10165495 list price is $109.30.

hawks has a gm reproduction kit ,8 pieces, from oem (same as the year1 from what Im told) for $229... the rubber is actually a little better quality than stock gm and the measurments are identical to gm... this all came from Hawks tech line though..has anyone used this kit? I really need an entire ttop overhaul so if anyone knows of something better for the price...

Just opened the package and everything looks great. All the weatherstrip is of very high quality. I am not going to put it all on until I paint the car, but everything looks great .

They are plastic. The weatherstripping is original equiptment reproduction.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Again, go GM. I replaced mine with Soffseal a year ago. They fit nice and look factory, however, they are not factory. The GM piece actualy screws in at the front and rear under the trim. The Soffseat piece just slides in the channel and doesn't actually lock in with screws. I can grab it and force it out if I wanted to. Again, nice fit, looks good with factory weatherstripping, and all, but doesn't secure as well as factory.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
The guys are correct. 10165494/right side and 10165495/left are $85 and $95 for GM. and the side rubbers are $32 each. Thats on-line and gm parts search. I haven't got them myself, but need them. Right now I'm por-15 the rails and fixing the center plate. My seals came out and now they are just laying in there without sealant, and they already are better with the leak thing. Just make sure you fix all the holes and rust!!!!! Thats where the water was coming in on mine. Take that roof liner down too and you will see. My car is Very clean, but those T-Tops are a killer for rust!!! Make sure to fix that first. Don't forget to pull the seats and carpet. You WILL have rust if those suckers been leaking. It sucks, but if you like your car and fix it right, it will last!!!! There are many posts here that explain what to look for and how to fix it. IMO Por-15 works like a charm for fixing that rust. Hey compuwiz and scottmoyer, If I order online from a GM part supplyer, like GMparts.com, with those numbers, I should get original seals, right. BTW what does "w/o slider" mean in the description?

Yes, those are correct. Those are also for the updated style they started in mid 91 so you will need to order the pieces that go on the t-tops too.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
O.K. Thanks. BTW, . Can I just replace the rubber and reuse the plastic pieces? They have the little "drip" piece towards the front of the glass. The Gif. attach has the seal strip #4 for $37.11/$28.32 left/right and #3 retainer for $25.00 each side then #2 as the weather strip. $32.00. Is it absolutly nessesary to replace all the t-top pieces? I also wondered why one side is more expensive than the other side. Wierd!!

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
If your car has the older style weatherstripping with the rubber "drip rails" then you will need to replace all 4 parts on the t-top itself. The updated "drip rail" is made of a hard plastic that doesn't break and flap in the wind and the tracks for the weatherstripping are a different size.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
This one of my many posts on this stuff...so I hope I am not boring or being a pest, but I have dealt with finding t-top strips that fit for over a year...and had horrible experiences with both Soff Seal and Fbodywarehouse. I am not a fan of Year One cuz nearly all of their stuff comes from overseas....call it a moral dilemna, but I just can't put Chinese crap on my killer American 3rd Gen!
When I had to find parts for my Buick (yes..I also have a Buick..no laughing), I got stuff from Steele, those guys are awesome. Every part fit perfect and the folks at Steele were awesome to work with....kinda nice to talk to actual Car Folks (like us) and not a bunch of order taking kids (like Year One). They are not making these strips right now, but we gotta gotta convince them, www.steelerubber.com (hey, if nothing else, they gotta cool website).
Oh well....sorry if I am preaching, but I love my cars!

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Like it or not...but i have bought mine off of EBay.
I have replaced my weather stripping a couple years ago. It was perfect.
I'm repainting my car so I have to change them out again.
I bought the weather stripping around the doors, the trunk, the T top them selves, and on the body for the t tops.
Hell I also bought my door felts from them also.
No complaints.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Does anyone have a link or source for the T-Top drip rail seals?? This is the hard plastic part that attaches to the t-top and hangs over the glass.
Hawks has a complete T-top kit on thier site but I can't find these separately.
I am having the hardest time finding these

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
I'm looking at doing my weatherstripping over the winter. Just need to know a couple things. Is the Hawks kit the latter half of the third gen run style with the improvements? Do they include all the stripping for the roof panels? I know the flap that hangs over the glass is falling off and if its not closed right there is a gap where water can get in. Finally I'm looking for the moulding that goes around the glass on three sides. I don't know where to find that. I posted the same questions over on the restoration boards with no luck sofar....
I'm not doing any paint work because I'm going to be paying off college loans but I would like to have my weather stripping done in case I ever do the interior and also to keep the car dry inside....which has been quite a challenge over the past couple years.

Re: T-Top Weatherstrip Kit?
Okay. Everyone is talking about weatherstripping and drip rails, but where are the pictures that assure that everyone is on the same page? I've heard from many people that my part that is my part of concern is called the t-top outer weatherstrip over hang, t-top outer strip, t-top outer rail, t-top drip rail, and t-top weather strip. But there is no picture that can verify what the problem is. So can anybody help me out here? Check out my thread that I started which includes a picture that show my issue. What is the piece of rubber that is beginning to look junk ( https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/post...004-post1.html )? And if is the t-top drip rail, then has anyone had any success in finding some new ones? Thanks guys.

Guys, if you have a t-top car this book is worth it's weight in gold! It's step by step instructions on how to install, leak check and adjust t-top seals. It even has instructions for door glass adjustment. I got mine off ebay a while back for 19.95, and now it's under lock and key. It's a must have!

Scott, in 10 years... I went to college for 5, moved to a different state, started a career, and gone through about 5 or 6 girfriends. My thirdgen is just a small side project I have and unfortuntely I have not had as much time as I would like to work on it, or contribute here.
