Bumped Mirror while backing in...

Bumped Mirror while backing in...
I was storing away my pride and joy... backing into the garage & the passenger side mirror hit the lip of the wall (pushing towards the front of the car)....
My question... it's still attached, but lose... I can see 2 what might be threaded bolts that go into it (mind you I'm legally blind-No I don't drive it, just in and out of Garage to work on it)...
Are there nuts that hold it in the door?
Should I buy a replacement? What would I need to do to tighten it?
Thanks,
Rafael

Yes, there are 2 studs at the base of the mirror, with nuts inside the door. They are 10MM if I remember correctly. Chances are that it broke or bent something, you might need a new mirror. It should be pretty easy to find one at a junkyard, or on ebay.

Confirm: they are both 10 MM nuts.
If one broke it would pivot on the other and potentially scratch up the door, and if it bent i don't think it would be "loose". You may be able to re-tighten the nuts, but chances are you stripped the studs. I can't confirm if they can be replaced without more work than it's worth. But all internals can be swapped among mirror shells, so if you either have to have one painted or find a manual black shell and you have power, you can simply move your power motor over.
To determine the damages you would have to simply remove the door panel. From there look up where the mirror studs go into the door shell and you will see two nuts, if you got luck you can tighten them with a 3/8" socket wrench (obviously can use 1/4" but 1/2" may get too big), a 3 to 6" extention, and a deep 10 MM socket. Try to tighten the two nuts, otherwise remove and then figure out if you can somehow re-thread the studs, replace the studs, or go to a junk yard and get a passenger side mirror. Other than that like i said all the internals are transferable so don't go out and spend extra on an electric mirror if thats what you have unless your motor is already shot. I'm going to a junk yard march 1st of which i can pick one up for you if you wish, and i believe they have two black 3rd gens, PM me if you need any help getting one.
Good luck!
Jon
