Wide Body Kit

Does anyone know of a Wide body kit that is made for third gen trans ams or firebirds? I found a picture of one and it looks sweet but I cannot find anyone that makes a kit so I think it is probably a one off deal, but I was just curious if anyone knows of one. Thanks

Re: Wide Body Kit

I saw one of those on a Trans Am with the 85-90 gfx/bumpers and it looked horrible. but at least it was very cleanly done. but that formula in the pic looks awesome, maybe the one I saw looked horrible because it was all stock besides the quarters.

Everybody is beating me! That's the only Widebody kit I know of. I've been tempted to get it, but they don't list a price, for just the wide fenders, without the whole IMSA Widebody kit. Besides that, I'm addicted to my crosslace GTA wheels, which wouldn't be wide enough to look even halfway decent.

Re: Wide Body Kit

The look I am going for on the car is road racer, my father and I already have to drag cars, and I was able to pick my 85 Trans Am up for FREE. So Im starting at a baseline of $0 invested. I saw that first picture and the body kit and those fat a$$ tires, and thats what I want mine to look like now.

Anyone seen pictures of the IMSA kit? I get the two red X's for those pictures.

From www.showcars-bodyparts.com ?

You get more than me. I don't even get red X's. I get pics of the Fiberglass Vision Widebody Kit but nothing but text for the IMSA style 6pc Widebody Kit, but it does say "Needs modified for Firebird" which makes me suspect it was built for a Camaro....meaning it has the openings for Camaro lights for the side and the front fenders are way the wrong shape for Firebird/Trans Ams.

Dunno.

If you call them & ask, let us know what they say, and what the pricing is on the Fiberglass Vision Widebody Kit. I wonder what size tires fit with those?

Re: Wide Body Kit

Yeah, I may call them tonight, just to find out. Modifying wouldnt be an issue for me, the entire car is comming apart anyways. The first one in this post is made for a camaro, but I think it would work.

All of this talk about it is killing me because I cannot work on it.

Re: Wide Body Kit

I belive baldwin-motion makes both the camaro and firebird widebody kits. If I'm not mistaken, that camaro kit is from B-M or Motion performance. That's the same pic that was in there catalog with a firebird kit a few years ago.

I'm looking for my old 88 GTA Trans Am CUSTOM WIDE BODY - White with tan cloth interior

Look at the link below for car photos.

Chuck Swick from Bond Motor Car Company in Columbus, Ohio bought the GTA from me in 12/1989.

Last Registered in Minnesota in 1999 based on CarFax records.

Custom Wide Body GTA Trans Am that I built in 1988 Glen Mills, PA. I sold the GTA at a Kruse Custom Auto Auction in Miami, Florida to Chuck Swick from Bond Motor Car Company in 12/1989, he took the car back to his home in Columbus, Ohio and he used it personaly. Chuck sold the car at his dealership in Ohio a year or so later. I have contacted Chuck and he is trying to find the information on who he sold GTA to. Last Registered in Minnesota in 1999 based on CarFax records. I have not found records past 1999.

Let me know if anyone has seen it. I may be interested in buying it back.

Here are a few pics of my 1988 GTA with a wide body kit. The kit was produced by Product Guild. I made a number of mods to the rockers and the front fenders so it would keep the GTA look.
