a lil different approach to the rear end
I have my 85 project t/a under a barn now!
So, as it goes up here in the northeast, the rubber dong spoiler that came on the 85-90 t/a's was done for. It's cool though, while that spoiler looks neat i'm not down for the 200 lb hatch weight. i'm down to 3500 in the gta vs a typical 3700 curb weight for the optioned GTA's and most of that was in loosing the heavy mess on the hatch.
The bad thing is that the project cars hatch was replaced by a grey firebird hatch, with a primer spoiler minus the 3rd brake light installed.looks like hell.
but, i have a 92 camaro parts car sitting out back with the duck tail spoiler, and it's the right color by chance, soo, we make do.
thing is, it won't have the wrap round peices the camaro has, just the center spoiler from the RS's. i think it might look neat, will be more durable then the firebird crap for sure, just as light, probably more functional, and with the GTA lights it might make the car look very wide and accentuat the wideness of t/a quarters while updating me to the high mounted 3rd brake light.
what do you guys think? anyvbody seen this/have pics of it?

Re: a lil different approach to the rear end
i don't have pics yet but i put the hatch on and it looks f ing sweet.
looks like a lil nascar spoiler out back, makes the quarters stick out, is less in your face then the regular spoilers, but gets your attention still.
it makes the car look alot like the convertibles do. i'll get pics up soon but i gotta tell you it turned out better then i thought it would.
while i had the hatch off, we stripped and painted the somewhat rusty and faded metal liner, did a thorough cleaning of the glass which made a huge improvement, the defroster lines shine now. then i had the bright idea to tint the hatch while it was out cause it'd be easy right? yea right, go to a pro, i wasted 25 bucks finding that one out.
pics coming soon if you guys want.

I've seen the camaro spoiler on a bird with no wrap-around pieces. I think it looks mis-matched and half-assed. Now if you were to custom make end caps that fit the firebird corners, then you'll have something.... especially if you did it with a taller 5" center section. It'd have the 2nd gen T/A look and look complete.

Re: a lil different approach to the rear end
it's definately different but it accomplished a few goals for me 1) the car is now one color and i'm not blinded by the horrid tint job on the old window 2) i have rear defrost now 3) i prefer the later 3rd light cause if you have a dark interior/tint it barely shows up from outside 4) it's lighter by far, then even the light firebird spoiler, i dunno if they changed the glass but, the firebird spoiler minus the low center 3rd brake light without defrost was at least 25 lbs heavier then the rs hatch, now if it had the rubber spoiler that means i'd have dropped more then 100 lbs. 5) it cost zero money and an afternoon to have a brand new looking hatch.
like i said i'll get pics, it gets your eye for sure! it's not for everyone but i like it on mine.
