I'm 18 and senior in high school. My car is a 1985 Camaro Z28 with a 355, th700r4, and 3.73 POSI. I paid $600 cash with clean title for it. There is only one other kid at my school with a 3rd gen Camaro.

I had and still have my 1991 firebird I paid just under $500 running on 5 out of 6 cylinders and I loosened an exhaust valve and changed an intake gasket and viola it purrs. But that was my sophomore year (couldn't drive it) so now I have a permit and an lt1 and a t56 that I am picking up when I come back from vacation haha those mustangs better watch out lol and my insurance company better watch out haha

This is my 1989 Camaro Rs that i got before i could drive when i was 15 for $2500. It was bone stock with a TBI 305 and 700R4. around 100k miles but ran great and never gave me problems


This is it now. AR23 rims, z28 spoiler, cowl hood to fit the 388 stoker motor with Proflow XT EFI. 4th gen seats, built tranny, 3.73 detorit true trac rear.

That is actually a good friend of mine's old Z28, he ended up getting a 2000 something Mustang after he sold that Z28 for a large profit. There were 3 of us that played on the Football team that had 3rd Gens: 1 Z28, 1 IROC and my Formula.

'84 z28 that my dad bought brand new, he put 80 thousand miles on it until '98 when the transmission started slipping and sat for 12 years. after a whole lot of hours this past september it went into shop for the tranny and was SO close for me to be able to take to my senior homecoming (drove it to school the next monday) but i love it no matter what. currently in paint and getting it back after spring break since the guy took his precious time to order the front bumper that needs to be replaced and man i can't wait

Yup, a '88 Firebird Formula in light blue with the grey lower trim. I totally miss that car. I drove it to college and all over the country with the military and it got JACKED when it was like 13+ years old! I know the oil change guys at Walmart took it, they used to drewl over her! Hahaha! They took my Gixxer-750 too! The Bird was in MINT condition, I really did buy it from a little old man with my paper route money. Then I got a new Vette and missed my Bird the whole time, Thank God I got my '89 Formula now! I'm back in love!

And YES I totally had neon lights under her so she looked like she was "hovering" like a Land-Speeder, Tinted with like 0% visiblity, some insane Alpine stereo with Cerwin Vegas Speakers and two 12"s in the trunk and like 6 amps, a giant NY Yankees sticker on the rear window, I think I had a MSD ignition and a Deep Sump oil pan...or something. Definetly no cats and Flows! Oh and a hot NOSE BRA! To cover a dent! Hahaha! The good old days!

I got my 92 Camaro when I was 15. It was my first car. Momma and Daddy told me I couldn't have one. I think my mother wanted one so for Christmas I finally got it! That was about 15 years ago. I still have it. It was always perfect and everyone around here knows who the car belongs to. People I knew in high school still ask about it. I have done many mods to it since then and have enjoyed every bit of it. Even through the aggravating times it has always been my favorite vice. I plan on having the car until the day I die... and possibly being buried in it. lol Oh, and no one drives it except me.

Nice. I was actually looking at a 92 v6 camaro that needed a lot of work and the lady wanted 3000 for it. My dad wasn't too happy about it so he found the 89 with a 305 that I bought. It was a whole lot nicer. No rust, good paint and interior and I got it for $2000. Still remember when my parents picked it up for me and dropped it off at the hardware store I was working at. They sure did look funny driving it haha.

I did, the picture in the signature was taken during my HS days, wish I had more of them. The car doesn't look nearly as good now, but it's still sitting in my garage 14 years later. Working on getting it back to good Good memories in that car!

I stayed out really late one night when I was 15. My dad was furious. I went to my room and on my pillow there was a note with an ebay address on it. I looked it up and it was a beatiful 1987 gta. My dream car. I kept it while got sick of putting money into it and traded for s10. Regret it till this day.

I bought mine when I was in 10th grade from a pawn shop here in fl with 66k org miles she has no rust outs just had a full tune up brakes and tires done I paid 1400$ and still have it and 2 years later I have only put 20miles on it the transmisson went bad and iv been saving for a ls1 swap

I'm a senior now, got my 1986 T/A last summer, just before i started senior year. T tops, 5 speed, and the chicks dig it! What's not to love? Paid ~3000 bucks and she's in insanely good shape, worth every penny. Only 3rd gen at the school, one of 4 in my city. Nicest one out of all of them

I did the same exact thing lol. Now it's my sig pic. I remember it like it was yesterday. The kid who was taking the pics was a good friend of mine. A bunch of us went out after class to the lot to snap them. I took the usual pics with it, but then I was like "I got an idea". All the kids were standing around on the side (including the hot chick!), so I rolled up a little past them and told the camera dude to swing around and stand behind. The rest, as they say, is history. Probably should mention the "school's" student parking lot is part of a federal park, but o well lol.

The pic in my yearbook is just me in my car. But on the yearbook CD, the pic of my burnout is the opening for the "student rides" section. Good times, good times.

And mine was also a peg leg at the time!!

Great car to have in High School. Kind of funny, my Z28 was the oldest car in the parking lot. I lost best car to an Nissan Altima with tint and subs...oh well I like my car better anyway...Third Gens Rule!

Got my 87 IROC at age 23... almost a year and half after graduating college... with the amount of work and money these cars need I don't know how anyone could have bought one and maintained unless their parents supplied the cash flow back when I was in high school. I've been dreaming of owning one since I can remember (probably since sometime back in 1992 when I was 4...) and now that I own it, I couldn't be happier. Although I've doubled what I bought the car for as far as what I've put into it.

Thirdgens don't get you *** in your mid 20s .... can I rewind back in time and bring the Z with me? lol

I know what you mean about the amount of money they require! I also have about double what I paid for the car in it now. When got it though, around 2008-09 with the help Of my parents I also got a job the week after I got my license and the car on the road. I payed my own insurance and drove responsibly (no speeding tickets and every good driver and student discount I could get!). By high school graduation I had payed the car off.

Was not fortunate enough to have a third gen in high school, but I would drool whenever I saw one. I had an '86 Buick Century T-Type that I ran the heck out of. Would love to find another, but they are hard to come by.
At any rate, decided recently that the time had come for me to get my third gen, and here I am. '86 Z28, and I'm thrilled to have it. Matter of fact, I'm now on my lunch break and I'm going to go drive it home for lunch. Later!

I've noticed most of us started out with a Camaro. I've only ever owned 2 Camaros. There is just something about a Firebird that makes me feel at home in the drivers seat

My first third gen was 1992 firebird red v6 automatic, bought from my cold worker for 800 dollar with blow head gasket. sold for 500 dollar after few month , and 5-6 camaro after that, I dont like the third gen firebird front for some reason

Man I love reading these story's! My folks bought me an 82 Z28 when I was 15. The funny thing about it was my Dad had to tow it home because the 4 speed tranny was busted. The guy he got it from sold it because his son who was 16 or 17 (can;t remember) busted the tranny doing burn outs and made his Pops mad so he sold the car. I begged and pleaded with my Dad to let me have the 4 speed again and he wasnt going for it so I settled for the 700R4. We did build a nice 350 bored 30 over in it. I dream about that car from time to time. It would bark the tires in second and third gear. Those were the days.

Then as a graduation gift he got me a brand new 1988 GTA. Plans were to take that car to college and not drive it much but I meet my wife to be and she drove that car everywhere so I just said to heck with it and Ill try it with another one later. So we got married had kids and I sold the GTA. A few years ago I actually found that car by looking up the VIN with Carfax. Saw that someone had it in Louisiana and it was totaled by the Insurance company after Katrina came thru. So I chased it down to a dismantler in Virginia, somehow I convinced the DMV there to help me find it and they did but it was to late they had already parted it out and crushed it. So I bought the Convertible I have now. I have pictures of both those cars at my folks house I need to go find them.

Bought my first thirdgen new off the dealership lot in 1992 after I finished graduate school. Beat on it for 51 months before I traded it in on a 1997 Camaro. When they were new cars, they didn't cost that much to maintain. In those 4 years, mine needed oil changes and 1 brake job and nothing else. With the way I mod them now, maintenance is a never ending task... :-)

i am currently 16. i get my license in october...166 days to be exact. for now i am on my permit. i have had this car since i was 10 years old. it was a father son project. we rebuilt the engine, have a heavy duty monster transmission built to withstand up to 550 horses. just got a bunch of suspension parts (sfc's, adjustable panhard bar, strut tower brace, wonder bar, lcarb's, and raised strut mounts, along with sportlines. havent had the time to put them in yet though. all the money going into it, besides the engine and transmission has been mine. its been hard since i dont have a job yet, and slow-going. but here is the car...

Camaro #1

I got my first thirdgen the summer after graduating highschool at age 18. Worked my *** off all summer at a dry cleaners to scrape up $1500 to buy a red 1988 camaro 2.8L auto. It had a perfect body and the gray ground fx trim. After owning it for almost 2 years I got T-boned at a busy intersection and my baby was totaled. Unfortunately dont have any surviving pictures of it.

Camaro #2

Shortly after losing my red camaro, at age 19 I found a 1987 Camaro Z28 with t-tops and a small block 350 on craigslist for $1500. It wasnt in as good condition but It hauled major ***. It had a straight pipe in place of the catalytic converter. I swapped the rusty quadrajet carb for an edelbrock 600 cfm 4 barrell carb and it was a bat out of hell. heres a pic



Camaro #3

Eventually sold Camaro #2 b/c I was getting like 8-10 miles to the gallon lol. Found my third and final baby on Craigslist for $2400 at age 25. Its a 1992 RS 25th Anniversary with a 3.1L, and the best looking Camaro I've ever owned. Im a Camaro dude until the day I die, its the only type of car I've ever owned.

I started driving in 2000 and graduated in 2002. I had 2 in high school. I had a 91 Formula with a 305 TBI and t-tops then I had a 1992 GTA 5.7 till I was 21 and sold it. I always regretted selling that car even though I have since owned 2 4th gens, a 5th gen and a C6.

I'm hopefully picking up a 1992 T/A this weekend. I have a thing for banshee 3rd gens.

I got my first Firebird the summer before my junior year in high school. I bought it from a teacher at school. It was a super clean base 1986 Firebird with the old 2.8. At the beginning of my senior year I sold that car to one of my classmates and bought a 1988 Trans Am GTA. I wish I still had the GTA today.
