Is this enough primer and paint to do a decent job on a 91 camaro?

Today I bought 2 quarts of Primer and 2 quarts of JET BLACK paint and 1 Quart of clear.

These are made by DUPLICOLOR

Should It be suffucient amount of paint for a decent job on my 91 camaro? I cannot drive around my town and having it look like it came out of COMPTON anymore, I really need to get this done. Please tell me experianced painters

This is damn ugly!!!

I used over 3qts of color and exactly 1 gallon of clear on mine. Had no clear leftover whatsoever.

PS.. I used much much more primer then that. I primed and blocked 4 times before I was satisfied with the straightness.. and even then looks like I could've gone once more.

If you want to do it in twelve hours, you'd better have a good dual action and a nice compressor (unless you go with an AC dual action). However, if your compressor can stand up to a really nice dual action, I'd get yourself a little bucket sandblaster. I saw one at home depot for 13 bucks the other day. Use coal slag from menards though. Its black and sold as an abrasive blasting media by the sand. It's about 10 times as good as sand; It's lighter than sand so it can easily be cleaned up or blown off, it's not as dangerous to your health, and in my opinion it does a better job of paint/rust removal.

Take breaks that involve watching movies with good looking muscle cars if you have a problem with motivation

if you knew what you were doing yes... if your asking about quantites though 12 hours isn't enough time for you.

why rush something that is so important to a car? my last paint job took 2 years of working on it 4 days a week. granted i took my time and went overboard but just saying... 12 hours. not much good is accomplished in that amount of time with limited knowledge.

Are you wanting to do a half *** job or are you wanting to do it the right way? If your wanting to do a good job...take your time and do it the right way.

If you want to do it the right way, you should remove everything, meaning ground effects, door handles, door molding, weather stripping, spoiler...ect. Your going to want to use a good high build urethane primer. We use PPG K36, it builds great and sands easy...about 180 a gallon. Do you plan on just blocking and painting it? If you plan on that...then spray your primer, first block 150, that way when you sand, it will actually "cut" through your low and high spots instead of sanding ontop of them. After that, prime again, block with 150, prime again, block with 320. You get the point. You can do it how ever you want...I'm not sure what kind of condition your body panels are in. We restored a 1969 COPO Camaro (54 original miles) and a 1969 ZL1 Camaro...and probably put a total of 15 coats of primer on them *sanding between coats*. By the time they were done...they were as straight as an arrow. I'm getting ready to start on a 68 Chevelle...and I plan on doing it the same way.

And for paint, if your mixing 1:1 and you have 2 quarts...that would make a gallon reduced...so you should be fine. For the clear...i would go with a gallon...although, you may not use it all. But in all honestly, it depends what brand of paint your going with. Some of the cheaper base coats don't cover at all....meaning you might need more then 2 quarts.
