Rear hatch seal
I am looking for the seal that goes in between the rear glass and decklid. I am replacing the glass and swapping over my decklid so I need a new seal... where can I get one? Anyone have a part number?
I searched but I wasn't sure if my results were for the weatherstripping all around the glass or not...that not what I'm looking for, I need the piece that seals the glass to the decklid.

Re: Rear hatch seal
i have one in good shape. $20 plus shipping sound good?
EDIT:
Sorry i just re-read ur post, and not sure if its the same thing. The one i have is the one that goes on the car, all around the rear opening. ITs the one that seals the entire rear hatch and prevents water from getting in. Is that what u need?

Re: Rear hatch seal
if you mean the mastic strip that seals the metal deck to the glass itself, I don't think there is a specific piece for that (or part #) IIRC it was just a corded strip sealant.
You can use clear silicone caulk, or get polyurethane windshield adhesive to do the job of the old sealing strip (the former is even mentioned in the tech article here... https://www.thirdgen.org/hatchalign
Either would do the job fine, although I'd go with the clear silicone since it's pretty cheap, and if you ever have to replace the glass it is easier to remove.

Re: Rear hatch seal
As stated, the silicone will work well. Just make sure you use enough.First time I did it , I used a decent sized bead, but it still leaked. The second time I used twice as much and it sealed great, no leaks. It has alot of room to spread out when you bolt the hatch to the glass, so just make sure your bead is high. The second time I made a quarter inch bead , then placed another on top of that, then bolted it. Just letting you know what worked for me.

Re: Rear hatch seal
Thanks for the replies... yes I'm talking about the strip that seals the metal deck to the glass itself. I was thinking I could put a bead on the groove that holds the seal, let it dry and act as one, then put another bead down and secure the glass.
I already have a few tubes of Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive Sealant, #81158, will this stuff work good?
