Fiero spoiler on third gen Firebird
I know this has been mentioned before and I know it's a touchy subject but I would like to show this option to first time firebird/trans am owners so please don;t shut me down just yet. I have owned both fieros, trans ams and firebirds and feel that they can me merged if somebosy is willing to take that chance of being tormented by felloew firebird & trans amm owners.
More to the point. Here are a few pictures of before and after from switching from a stock firebird spoiler to a trans am spoiler.
The before car is my wife's '86 2.8L firebird and the after pictures are from a fellow member's (can't remember his name, hope he presents himself) Fiero spoiler install.

I think It looks fine except the Fiero Spoiler hangs a little too much off the back for me.

I agree myself...and I believe the person who had done this swap had moved the spoiler back a little bit on purpose...for his own taste.

Re: Fiero spoiler on third gen Firebird
The after pictures are of "qytum's" car...sorry if I stole them qytum. The before pictures are from my wife's 1986 2.8L firebird.
The stock firebird spoiler measurements are:
60 3/8" (end-to-end. Measured from the front points)
39 3/8" (between center of spoiler mounts)
The stock Fiero spoiler measurements are:
59 1/2" (end-to-end. Measured from the front points)
27" (between center of spoiler mounts)...if I have been told correctly
So the stock holes would have to be filled and new holes would have to be drilled to allow the Fiero spoiler to fit. If you look closely at the angled picture above of the fiero spoiler you can see where the factory holes were filled on the outside of the Fiero spoiler.
----------
I love the look to. We were considering getting an Aero spoiler but have since changed our minds. We still want to put an Aero apoiler on the next Trans Am we get.

Re: Fiero spoiler on third gen Firebird
From what I've read it is as simple as;
1. remove old spoiler
2. fill old spoiler holes.
3. measure placement of new spoiler.
4. drill new spoiler holes.
5. Mount new spoiler.
Filling the holes is no big deal. Any ametuer should be able to do this, but make sure you take the time and make sure the new Fiero spoiler holes are perfect or it won't look right.

That is exactly how easy it is to put on a new spoiler. I think it is a really good idea. looks great

Re: Fiero spoiler on third gen Firebird
im curious about the fireros...2 questions
1. what type of engines do they use (how many cylinders)
2. and how hard is to change the spark plugs on them..ive heard that u have to pull the engine up a lil bit to change them

2. It's not that hard to change the plugs in them...not near as bad as trying to change plugs in some of today's new engines.
