I am 2 days from having my 87 IROC vert painted. I'm after a black (black top & saddle interior), but I cannot 1) figure out the stripe sequence?? and 2) what color stripes. The sequence I read is a 1/4" black (just above the groound effects), followed by a 1/8" body color (again black) and "another color??). I think gold is in there somewhere.
Does anybody know what an original black IROC came with??

Second, is it OK to put the stripes on under the clearcoat? I had an 86 in 86 and I remember my stripes got chipped up fairly easy.

Really appreciate any comments/opinions..

what colour is your IROC-Z door decal?...the door decal will determine your colour sequence. this is the stripe kit and sequence (black then gold). i guess you have a gold IROC-Z door decal.

Thank you for the tie-in...My car was repainted a while ago & the stripes never replaced. My door decal is gold. Sounds like a black on the bottom and one gold above it. Can the stripes be put under the clearcoat? Also, not sure it makes much sense to put a black one on black if under clearcoat?

does anyone know the dimensions of these stripes (1/4" bottom, 1/8" top?). Gramps gave me an excellent site to get them, but I thought I'd have the shop cut one for me.

they are pretty big, like an inch or so...i made a little drawing in paint of the sizes of those decals.

Gramps, thank you for the help. I'll send a photo when complete! Also, would you mind measuring the distance up from the ground effect and back from the front door edge for the IROC-Z emblem? Maybe reference the letter, not the decal edge....very much appreciated.
