How do you guys feel about this. I AM BUYING IT. Just wanted to know what people thought about this product.....and its fiberglass....meaning.....lightweight, because I can get custom lexan windows in it and make it lighter. Here is pics.

I like the 5inch spoiler. Surprisingly it isnt gaudy and anoying like many ***** spoilers. It gives it a 2nd gen look (I have a 2nd Gen fetish).... May look good with a notch back.
How much room is left in the hatch area for storage though?

well the ttops still fit fine so it dosnt effect space for me anyways. i never use the trunk i just use the back seats. the one thing i did seem to notice though was a decrease in mpg due to the lack of aerodynamics with the notch. and i dont know if mine is made the same as others out there but as far a weight goes.. with the fiero spoiler on it is heavier then the stock glass. yeah its a fiber glass hatch but with a steal frame so its pretty heavy. but mine window is sealed bad and water leaks in so maybe the metal will all rust away and ill be left with just fiberglass LOL.
its nice to be different though

You have the same amount of space as if you had the security cover in the rear.
The second picture the one in red primer is the actual one i own. I bought it from a guy locally and i guess hawks decided they liked the picture even though it's not like the one they sell.

i haven't weighed mine but it does weigh quite a bit. It's not much lighter than the glass. If you like the look get it. If your doing it for weight savings I wouldn't suggest it. You don't want to take weight from over top of the rear wheels anyway with the traction problems these cars have anyway.

Notchback glass in...
Okay, so far so good. Temporary tinted plexiglass untill I paint it later this year. Hatch = $40.00, Tint & Plexiglass = $80.00.
Here's the latest pictures.
Fiero GT wing gets mounter later this month. It's against the wall in the third picture.
BTW, the notchback is HEAVY.

your notch is the exact same as mine. Im sure it's lighter than the glass but not much. How much did the tinted plexi cost you? that looks amazing. can't wait to see it in paint. Looks like the brother of mine haha. although i'm still stuck between what spoiler i want on the car. either a modified 91-92 highrise or a custom spoiler similiar to the 5 inch. keep me updated on your progress.

#4 is the weight of the HATCH WITH GLASS AND NO SPOILER
The hatch from Hawks weighs 40lbs....without lexan window...so just say 45 push 50.....yes still weighs alot only because its 50lbs laid out across a hatch....but you lose 40lbs.....now to compensate for that I am putting my battery in my trunk....now I am back even and have no traction issues...plus I am getting suspension parts to help.

The latch is a butcher job by someone that should have adjusted the whole hatch, not just the locking mechanism. I'll take some pics tomorrow and show you what I mean. I have the studs in the hatch but when I modify the latch I will probably have to put new ones in.
I had the other two windows tinted yesterday with 5% limo tint. Feels great to drive it.

The one from Vanacorvette.com looks a lot better. The back fins go almost all the way back plus the flat part isnt flat with theres. They come included with louvers but i think it looks better without them. Gives it the stock look not aftermarket look.

Wanna call them and get some info for us....like weight with window and louvers or just the hatch....also see if you can have pictures sent to you...more and bigger. I want to see the louvers but the picture on their site doesnt do justice. Thanks. I would e-mail but they are against that....they said you have to call on their website.

Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy week. So many women, not enough time.
Anyhoo, the pics are of the underside. One pic of the left side strut support which needs a little modifying to correctly fit the support. Another of the center latch which was cut and moved back instead of modifying the rear of the NB to accomodate the latch. My bro and I will cut it off in a couple of weeks and replace it.
I'll be out of town for the next couple of weeks and won't be able send any updates, but I will still be on the boards.

Finally made it up here to Dallas. Onto OKC Sunday.
Define original NB? As far as I know, about 3 different companies made the NB and two new ones are fabricating new NB's. I think Hawks also sells them.

Re: NOTCH-BACK CAMARO
a big weight saving but in the wrong area, these cars were something like 56 44 weight split stock which isnt bad, dropping that weight off ofthe rear tires means you may lose as much in 60 ft as you will gain in et, but by the aerodynamics it may be a loss.
i Do like the idea of putting the battery in the back of the car, dunno how i forgot about that but seeing as i'll have my 85 stripped i may as well put the battery in the back and call it a day.
anyone know the weight of the t/a hatch with the horrid rubber spoiler?

So I've been scouring the boards for pictures and comparables of Notch Backs and the only ones I found were the ones on the top of this thread. From what I gathered the first picture is from Motion Glass (even though it's shown at Hawks store) The one that gives it a profile just like a glass hatch is from GT Auto, but no one has info or pictures from the Texas company (or if they are even around!)
I would like a definite answer. If I want a Notch back mod as close to the OEM GM one. Which is the way to go?

Keep your eye peeled on Ebay... OEM ones pop up every now and then... I paid $1000 for mine and then about $700 to ship from Chicago.... then 6 months later, there was one on Ebay for $500 about 1.5 hours north of me...
