Hmmm a mini car meet, worth driving from Rochester NY, might find two palm prints spread out on the hood though, just saying..
You know, I was looking for a total of reasons to move to Texas-
1) Work for the DART Police force in Dallas Texas
2) Heard the women are something else, especially in Austin/San Antonio
3) No Rust on Vehicles? Whaaaaa? What is this "No Rust" you all speak of?? I'm in NY!
4) I can drive a camaro year round without plowing my driveway with it in Texas??
5) Seat time in the Passenger seat of Neil's out of this world, stellar, gorgeous, adrenaline inducing, heart thomping, tire burning, corner carving, premium fuel churning, wet dream materializing, envy generating, need for speed soothing work of dedication, art and four wheel personification.

Your supposed to plow gardens, not driveways. Wouldn't the plow ruts make a driveway awfully bumpy?

:X LOL I am going to have to upload some photos tomorrow of our driveway, it has ruts from plowing, one is almost 7 inches deep now. One day I found 2 snapping turtles in the rutts, yea.

Re: Phase I done, Phase II-interior almost done, and now Phase III-drivetrain (454 LS
Unfortunately I wasn't able to try and start the "beast" because I had a coolant leak! As I was topping up the rad water (+ water wetter) started coming out of the rear of the engine....I was saying aloud..."WTF, WTMF is going on????" Got under the car, no block plugs were leaking, went up to the top of the engine with a light and bingo......alot of you probably know this but the LS heads all have 5-6 mm holes for coolant flow at each corner of the head, the two in the rear get blocked off and the ones in the front are connected via a coolant crossover tube which is plumbed into the highest location of the radiator. So, that being said, I didn't know that and I can say now I know what those holes in the cylinder heads are for (aid in preventing "hot pockets" by allowing the air to move to the radiator and out of the heads), LOL. I'll take pics in the next couple of days and post what exactly I am talking about. I should be ready to give it another go on Friday, cross your fingers that I haven't overlooked anything else!
BTW, yes I have added engine oil, trans fluid, bled the clutch, PS fluid and soon to re-add engine coolant.
Brake fluid and rear diff fluid will come later once I get it running.

Jim probably has a couple of sets of those cross-over tubes. You may want to check the back of the heads too. I think you will need block-off plates for the rear vent ports...
Give Jim a call if you cant find the parts.

This is sort of like waiting for a date to finish her @#$%'n makeup... but worth the wait for a good ride late at night! Please make sure your oil lines are tight, fuels good, and all of your coolant lines are set Can't wait to see the vids!

Ive never read thru 36 pages on a net forum , I saw this at like 9 and its midnite now Im really just at a loss for words other than you have amazingly great taste . Amongst a SEA of me too me too mega buck project cars out there , this car is breath of fresh air . While I would have left the cutouts for the door poppers off and stuck will a lower duck tail spoiler( gotta get my opinionated 2 cents in , hehe ) , Im completely at a loss for words at how cool this car is . Cant wait to see it in action .
With all the time invested , I hope you intend to drive the wheels off this car . As pretty as it is , it would be a crime to let it languish in a garage
I dont feel so bad now about my 94 Z being out commission now since 06 in process of being built . I feel your pain , lol

Well, for the last couple of weeks I have been struggling with a weak Optima battery, a faulty cam sensor and mislabelled coil and fuel injector wires in the BigStuff 3 harness.....tonight with the help of Larry at LRS Performance/ASSC Racing I got the engine fired up!!! FINALLY!!!! It was almost an Overhaulin moment, but I did not shed a tear, lol. The beast is alive as of August 29, 2009 10:30 p.m.(let's hope it stays alive)! I still have to set the reference timing, adjust fuel pressure, MAP and spark tables, etc., but it did fire up after about 3 or 4 seconds. I can't begin to tell you guys how happy I am.....freakin finally and I can't wait to shoot a video and put it up here for you to see....I will, soon after I get it to idle well.
Anyway, here are a few picks on startup day (The picks outside were from 2 weekends ago when it wouldn't start)

Here are some pics of the modified intake.....John (American Race Components) welded a nice tube between the plenums and I put in a 90 deg pipe to -8AN adapter for the IAC unit....much cleaner than the crap I had on there before. Also, reworked the fuel routing because the leaks in the back were a PITA to deal with...now, knock on wood I hope I will be leak-free!

What hood are you going with/Having custom built? It looks like your intake is too tall to fit under a stock hood line, by more than just a couple of inches.....

Alright guys, I finally video'd the engine running using my little 6 MP camera. The quality sucks but it will do for now, oh and I realized after shooting this that I had my fingers over the microphone most of the time...ooops, next one will be better.
Found another fuel leak, another hard line ...man I thought I made those flares spot on, guess not. Will replace the return hard line from the regulator when I take the valve covers off to have them painted.
Managed to get the base timing pretty close, but I think I am still 3-4 degrees off. Will re-check later today. When I shot this video, I noticed the engine temp creeping up and the fans never kicked on!!! So, I checked all the wiring and forgot to connect the IGN wire to my junction block to feed the fan relays (another operator error)...now should have fans that kick on at 190F.

Thanks Neil This is a great way to cap off the summer. I have my car on the road finally after 7 years and yours has come to life, this is great. GM should pay you to drive that car, being out on the road in public is some of the greatest advertisement they could get.
Can't wait to see another vid, its incredible.

The guage rack is SICK! Engineering at it's finest! lol
Get an air filter on there before it sucks in a dog or small child....
Mine's still louder though, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfLWpAy0c1o
You may want to bring it down soon if you want to cruise before mine is down for the next round of mods. Dre is trying to talk me into a 106mm! I think he wants to crack my block in half.
Congrats bro!
