Well, you know Jim would say the same thing I'm gonna...... We need to tweak it a bit before sema....

ie.. media blast / paint / or powder coat: rear end, sway bars, brackets, panhard bar, tranny x-member, and any rusty screws/bolts/plugs, polish diff cover, fix or replace the screw holding on the center ground effect in rear area or find better way of attaching, send car back to paint shop for touch-ups and detailing, have entire exhaust jet-hot coated, install tru-trac and intake, interior upholstery, new shocks and or struts and or air-ride, tune DFI (my friend with the turbo stang is a wiz at FAST XFI, we need to build a custom cold air intake once manifold is in place, might have to make the A/C lines, etc.. etc..

I'm sure there are some things that I missed, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

I also think the GMMG setup in the rear would look and sound killer. Fatal88 has it on his LS-1 vert, sounds awesome!

Anywho, it's looking pretty damn good!

I'll call you after work tomorrow

Re: Phase I done, Phase II-interior almost done, and now Phase III-drivetrain (454 LS

Neil looks great so far BUT and I really hate to say this but that cross member is going to flex ALOT. Ive built a couple and you really need to have better vertical support. yours is like a cantilever and its going to put ALOT of stress on the forward mounting holes, they aren’t meant to take torsional stress like that and will fatigue the metal around the bolt. Also the flat piece that mounts to the tranny will need to be reinforced that will flex and deform… The idea looks good you just need to reinforce the area perpendicular to where the tranny mounts, just reinforce it in the vertical direction and any and all flex should be taken care of.

Also on the wiring location, your going to hate life if you leave it like that and drive in the rain. While the fender liners do a good job they don’t completely seal that front area and you will get splashing up there. If you keep it in that area you need to put the connectors in a sealed and vented box. I would recommend looking at another option.

If you could find a way to put the large connectors inside the passenger compartment and then inside the car drill through the floor into the frame rail and then run the wires for the fans and lights up through the frame rail to the front bumper you would completely get rid of ALL the wiring in the engine bay/wheel well. This might require you to get creative and may need to lengthen some of the wires but itll be a MUCH cleaner look and itll put the connector block in the passenger compartment which is much better since im pretty sure it isn’t a weather proof setup.

other than that constructive critisism your **** is kicking *** and taking names! keep it up!

EDIT: and dude get these up on a picture hosting site so I can scroll through them without having to weed through all the posts!! PLEASE!!

Thanks dude and yes, all the items you have list are in progress or will be done, well most...not all of the things you mentioned...NO AIR RIDE. Coil overs are going over in the rear. For now, I won't jet hot the exhaust, maybe later after I drive it for a while. Oh and I already have MagnaFlo Mufflers which will I will be running!

Thanks very much for the input! Constructive criticism is very good and can be very helpful. I will talk to the fabricator about strengthening the transmission crossmember before I have it powder coated.

As for the fuse boxes, yeah, I will definitely cover them up and shield them as best I can against water. I was thinking of making an aluminum cover which would completely seal in the fuse boxes from underspray and then add the plastic inner fender liner. Once I get the car back i'll spend some time with that and try and figure something out.

But hey, I am open to ideas!!!

The pictures you guys have been seeing are only progress pictures ! So Yes the trans mount looks weak, because it is weak...but is isnt finished. If you notice the mandrel bends arent welded up either, but no one mentioned that

Re: Phase I done, Phase II-interior almost done, and now Phase III-drivetrain (454 LS

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! I have updates for you on the exhaust system and modification to the k-member which was needed in order to drop the oil pan. I have to remove the oil pan because the bell housing plate was preventing the oil pan from sealing properly...the rear oil pan rail was pressed too tightly up against the bellhousing plate and residual oil in the engine (from assembly) was leaking from that location. Sucks this happened, but at least I found out now rather than later. John did an excellent job in modifying the k-member to allow removal of the oil pan wiht the engine in the car, cause I did not want to have to remove the engine this soon!

Here are pics of the powder coated upper/lower PH bars. John fabricated the upper bar to provide good clearance for the exhaust. The powder coat appears washout from the flash, but it is a nice silver. I will have the sway bar and lower control arms powder coated in silver as well.

The trans crossmember powder coated in gloss black. Note, additional gussets were added to strengthen the brace even more. It looks very solid!

Also, a pic of the header tube with the welds smoothed.

Re: Phase I done, Phase II-interior almost done, and now Phase III-drivetrain (454 LS

Modified K-member pics. The first pic shows the center section removed (cut out) and then John's fabricated, much stronger piece installed. It is a bolt in section which will allow oil pan removal . Note, the oil pan is not flush with the block, only a few bolts are holding it in, so it appears as if the center section is not straight or parallel, but it is.

It's looking pretty bada$$ !!

But, just noticed....

Post #1518 , 1st pic, it's looks like the passenger side muffler needs to be moved a couple of inches towards the outside (driver tip is directly under the amber turn signal, passenger tip is directly under the reverse light).....

I'll call ya in the morning.

Do have any magazine ties yet? I'll see if I can't get someone to check this thread out and maybe get a hold of you.

I wouldn't put the tips on until the spare-tire well can be scalloped out in order to make room to move the passenger side muffler. When that's done, I would use Corsa double walled stainless dual tips on each side. Corsa makes some pretty nice tips.

The tru-trak you want should be available soon.

No, I don't know anyone with the big magazines. That would be great if you could introduce your connections to this thread and see what they think.
Thanks!

I'll call ya in the morning.
The Muffler is not equal side to side to offset the drivers weight in the car....

Re: Phase I done, Phase II-interior almost done, and now Phase III-drivetrain (454 LS

I almost forgot, here are pics of the rear coilovers installed. They are the QA1 double adjustable coilovers.

Just so you guys know, I do plan on cleaning up the rear end housing & cover (will probably use POR-15 on it), will replace the sway bar end links (bushings are shot), powdercoat the LCAs silver as well as the sway bars (front and rear) to match the recently powdercoated panhard bars. Also, will install the LCA relocation brackets (weld in).

Neil, you may remember me from such posts as....

Really... she is beautiful, is she available for a date on a friday night? I'll serve a drink of her choice, 103+, or perhaps some home brewn 93 and nitro methanol? I know, a car can dream right? She deserves the best. ha before you know it your car will have stalkers and you'll be chasing after guys, and girls that are caught in local parking lots dry humping the hood of that beast on 4 wheels. Dont be surprised when the 83 year old man on the corner goes 'oh my goodness' when you light the tires up one time, and he jumps on the hood!

Still impressed by your craftsmanship, can hardly wait to see the videos of the first 'roll out of the shop' experience! I know...

Dude, that was too funny! Well, I actually got the car back from the fab shop yesterday and got her cleaned up and will start flaring the brake lines this week! Anyone know if it's possible to powder coat the brake booster without messing up the internal components. If so, give me your opinion, should I powder coat it a satin black or silver (same silver on the panhard bars)? The master cylinder is polished billet aluminum, so what do you think?

No, I haven't ordered the intake yet....it will be a Hogan intake with a Ford GT throttle body . I should have it ordered by the end of the week and i'll update you guys as to when I should receive it.

Re: Phase I done, Phase II-interior almost done, and now Phase III-drivetrain (454 LS

I finally made a little progress this weekend. First, I made some wood blocks from 2x12's in order to get the car high enough off the ground (with the suspension comressed) so I could properly measure for the driveshaft which I will order from Denny's Driveshafts tomorrow a.m. Also measured for the intake manifold and I will order that tomorrow as well......I am hoping to make some faster progress now! Oh, also installed the wiper motor and included a few more pics of the new headers.

Here are pics of the SSBC billet master cylinder installed (not primed with fluid yet). This week and into the weekend I will begin routing the brake line and flaring. I have been saying this to friends for weeks, but I will defintitely be worlking on it!

Thanks! But, I will be "tweaking" the exhaust tips once the car is alive. The tips currently are too long for my liking.

I will take a full exhaust shot and post in a dew days.
