Is it safe to drive with no bumper?

I need to know if it's safe to drive around with no bumper. I'm getting my car painted this weekend and I'm putting a new front end on it and I need to take off the bumper to replace the impact bar and I was just going to leave the new bumper off since the painter is going to take it off anyway and then I'd install it when I get the car back to my house so the bumper won't get damaged on the way home. I'm going to be driving 45 min to an hour on highways and I just don't want the wind to blow the hood open or something (that has never happened before by the way).

I doubt it, if it was all those Hondas wouldn't be on the road. It may be illegal not to have headlights though (which is why I'm leaving the old headlight bar on the car).

The bumper is plastic! If I get in an accident it wouldn't matter, the bumper would be crushed. I'm driving it an hour there and an hour back, I'm just asking if there is any danger not having the bumper on the car. That's all, as soon as I get the car back to my house the bumper and ground effect will be going back on.

well, id say probably not. obviosuly you dont need the bumper covers, theyre just covers to the real bumper. but i couldnt say wether or not your hood would fly off.
id say just go ahead and put it back on, doesnt hurt. and then you wont have to worry about anything

Believe it or not, headlights aren't required...IN THE DAYTIME, at least around here. If they catch a person, they'd get in trouble around here, though at night, you'd get busted for sure!

As far the the front "bumper", it's technically just a cover for the real bumper. So, you'd still be legal.

I would actually rather drive around without the bumpers because of the damage they endure, the weathering, road debris, and because they are getting harder to find in awsome condition.

I went ahead and took the bumper off and put the headlight bar back on the car and I don't think I'll have any problems with the headlight bar in place. I've never had a problem with my latch or anything but I just wanted to be sure, I can't afford a hood right now. I can't wait until this weekend, I've been waiting to get my car painted since September. She'll finally get to look good again.

Here's my '91. Been driving like this for the last few months minus the honeycomb grill. I just put my license plate on the inner bumper.

I don't think there would be a problem. I see lots of Hondas and import crap without front bumpers, I mean ALOT. I don't know if they crash alot, or they're getting their ridiculously oversized body kit bumper painted, or what. Im sure you won't have a problem with the law or with your hood.

It's staying red, I like red. There's not much I can do to a V6. I want to do an LS1 swap one day when I know what I'm doing and I have some money and find a good donor car I can get an entire drivetrain out of.
