Has anyone had their interior redone or customized?
Basically, I'm asking if anyone has had their stocks seat redone(i.e replaced foam, and covered with new clothe, vinyl or leather). If so how much did it cost? Did you like the results and were the seats more comfortable than before?
I'm asking this because in my quest for black leather 4th gen seats I have had no luck. I was thinking why spend $600 on some used seats when I could just have my mine returned to new condition.
Also if its not too much of a hassle could you posts pics?
Thanks in advance,
Jay

I had my 4 cloth seats redone and carpet put in for $750. The guy that I took it to has a small upholstry shop in a small town so the prices aren't high. But that was 6 years ago and they were redone to look just like stock. If I'd would do the interior again, I would get some inexpensive aftermarket seats from like summit or apc. And I would make sure to get cloth, not leather. All leather is good for is looks.

hawks would be a good place to look first, they have aftermarket kits to reupholster your 4th gen seats, either cloth or vinyl i believe. I have not used them myself, but i believe i've seen some pics around here of them...

Al four seats, door panels, headliner, sail panels and visors for about $1800, includes embroidery on the head rests ans rebuilding the foam in the seats. Also done at a private shop in a small town, OEM material would have cost more.

If i would have had him do the headliner, door panels, sail panels, custom emboirdary, $1800 would sound about right.
You can get or used to be albe to get headliner material(just the material) from classic industries for about $50 and have enough leftover to do the sail panels.
I just put black carpet in my brother's 95 t/a last weekend. Wasn't premolded we had to cut it and it took about forever to get it in right. But for $.49 a square yard(was $.19 a year ago) at Menards, the total ran $30 then $12 for a can of 3M spray glue.

Here are some pics. One is where I pulled back the seatcover. The fabric still kind of "sparkles". I've had seatcovers on it always except for car shows and I only had it in one show ever. The other pic is of $42 new carpet in my brother's 95 ta(the first pic).

I got a set of cloth seat skins for my 90 IROC from Hawks, and they were very nice. Not that hard to install... just tedious due to dozens of hog rings.
I'm looking for a set of leather seat skins now, for my 84 Z28. Anyone have ideas?
