Hatch alignment..other misc body Q's
Startin the body work on my gta and trying to align everything, but cant figure out how to align the back hatch. Its sticking out past the quarter panel about a quarter of an inch so I need to shove it forward. It also pulls it down a little below the quarter, how do I adjust that up a little?
Also the side molding on the door that goes down right down the middle, how is it fastened on? Do I just bust out the heatgun and putty knife for it or is it bolted on?
Next question I have is about door hinges, my car has 280,000 miles on it and has some of the worst hinges I have ever seen. I plan on heading over to tds but should I get the greaseable or non greaseable...is it really necessary to get the greased ones or not? I just spray that white lithium grease stuff on all of my other cars hinges and they seem to do well.
The last question I have was about weatherstripping. I was gonna get that soffseal 14 piece kit but have no idea where to pick it up at. I saw one on ebay a little while back but didnt need one at the time, does any of the site sponsors or someone else carry them?

I'd point you to the tech article but... it's no longer working apparently.

deck plate halves will need loosened up and adjusted to better location
and doors new hinges and bushings
both quite a bit of work mostly
luckily my hinges ar ein good shape
but my hatch deck plate is out of adjustment like yours and one end sticks out past the end of the car, just like i see on so many others, very common issue,
i plan on swapping on a grid style hatch glass on mine since it now has a clear replacement one on it and it doesnt look right with no grids at all, except for the black lines across the top, but ill have to swap decks since the donor is a camaro one, so..
when ppl put these decks on they dont seem to care much at all and just slop them on and take no time to get it right
another problem is that some of the studs like to spin with the nuts and im not sure how to get them off when they do that, no one has seemed ot mention what the trick to removing those is
other than a torch
dunno
youll need a tube of urethane from a glass shop or somewhere else to reattach the plate
really its jut a matter of removing the damn thing first, after that its cleanup time remove all the old junk off the plates and glass surfaces, and then re-seal and adjust alignment until its right, any way that you can
good lcuk
