Fiero seats recovered to look like stock seats. finished pics inside------->
Hey guys. Just wanted to post some pics of my new seats. I think this is actually an original idea, I dont think this has been done before. Not posting pics so everyone can steal my idea, but I think this is fresh and new and figured you guys would like to check it out.
Heres the deal. I am 6'4" tall with a long torso and long neck. With the stock seats in a hardtop car I can not sit up straight, luckily my car has T-Tops and I never had an issue. Until my car started going in the 13s at the strip and now with my autocross adventures I never had to wear a helmet. The problem is that I could not sit in the car with a helmet on and the T-Tops in. With a helmet on my head stuck an inch or so above the windshield. (yes I know call me handicapped if you want to) I need to have the tops in at the strip, and autocross events are not cancelled due to rain. My solution to the problem was to purchase some Fiero seats and Fiero seat tracks from the bone yard for $20. I used the stock camaro tracks on the passenger side with the Fiero seat, and on the drivers side I used the Fiero seat and tracks and voila, I fit in the car with a helmet on. This winter I had the seats recovered in NOS material and now they look just like stock thirdgen seats but they are way more supportive and they meet my "special needs". I also added new carpet and permamently deleted my rear seats. What do you guys think?

They look great.
Where did you manage to find the stock striped material? I thought that stuff was long gone.

Tim, the guy that recovered my seats found the material. (Maumee Trim & Upholstery in Defiance OH, they did a heck of a job so I will put a plug in for them) He called me up one day and said that he could not get the original material or anything even close for that matter. But he did find some place that had actual NOS material. It was $100 per yard, but the whole point of recovering them like I did was so they looked stock, so I took the plunge and shelled out the cash. Well worth it in my opinion. I am interested to see the reactions I get at the Camaro Superfest this year, and I am also going to try to make it the the Thirdgen nats too. They fit good and are one of a kind.

Looks Good.
I know a guy who got the Fiero seats that had the speakers in headrests, and put them in his Convertible 92 Trans Am. He said the radio sounds much better at freeway speed with the top down now.

Looks amazing. But I'm only 5'3, so I don't know your pain.
But I love how they look. What did you do to your rear seats?

That looks pretty sweet!! Third gens must attract tall guys, because I'm also 6'4". Luckily mine also has t-tops, but I have been contemplating on ripping the driver's seat out and tweaking the mounts a bit to drop it, and move it back a couple of inches.

So, why do the Fiero seats allow a taller driver to be more comfortbale when swapped into a thirdgen? And, are they stiffer or somehow more supportive than the stock pieces?
Looks like a great job.

to bull - because they're closer to the floor, so they open up a little leg and head room

1MeanZ,
I am working on recovering some Fiero seats and putting them in my Camaro and came across this thread.
I noticed you installed the stock Camaro seat belt guides. How did you do this, the fiero seats do not have a provision for them. I am thinking I need to attach a thin metal bracket behind the seat cover that attaches to the metal seat back. Then screw the guide into the bracket.

Another member from way back had a set in an '89 Formula along with a digital dash swap, looked great. Another tall one here at 6'6" but other than actually getting into the car I fit fine in mine.

I'm 6' 8", and I have 4th gen seats in mine, but I didn't notice that much more headroom with them than my 3rd gen seats (that are about to go back in)
