replacing an 85 mph speedo with a 115
would i have to change the speedometer gear in the transmission or anything else to make it work?

so today i was going to put the 115 in but after seein that other thread, i decided to try to fix the trip odometer. well, in an attempt to take it apart i broke the needle, actually the shaft that goes through the needle is what broke. i had a spare 85 mph speedometer so i decided to try to take it apart to fix the 115 one, so far i'm not having much luck. if they are plug and play, whats different inside them? what do i need to change? i had it together once and it seemed to be pretty accurate but then the needle spun all the way around and stuck on like 70 and it started making wierd noises. i just put the old one back in it for now and it still works, but i'm still trying to get this 115 one back together, i really wish i hadn't messed with it, i've never had a working trip odometer before and i would probably never even use it then i realized i probably could have just took it apart from the back anyways.
