Which of These 4th Gen Seats Should I get?
OK i have a few options as far as getting 4th gen seats is concerned (all of these options include both front and rear seats):
1. I can pick up a pair of MINT(out of a car with 20k miles) 1993 Tan CLoth Camaro seats for $125. The guy lives about 4 hours from me and was willing to meet me half way.
2. 1998 Tan Leather Seats out of a Camaro SS. First i need some pics of hte seats to varify that they're tan and not neutral (as tan would look better), and also to verify condition...and Then i can make an offer. If anyone knows exactly what shade the 1998 Camaro seats are, please let me know.
3. 1994 leather seats out of a TA. They look amazing in every facet...however the driver side seat has a small tear in it. I am wondering how much it would cost to repair it since these seats are f-ing gorgeous and if i can get a good deal on them i want them...except for that damn tear!!!! Heres a pic. Also see how the color would be a pretty good match for my interior. I am still negioating the price on this one...
EDIT: I could also probably get the 98's just the front seats if i couldnt afford to get the rears too. How would that look to just replace the front 2 seats?? I mean i always keep my rears folded down anyway...

You have a pic of your interior? Also, 4th gen T/A leather is the best! Its what I had in my old RS.

Yes its in awesome shape and i want to keep it like that. I have some fugly *** seat covers on it now to keep em looking good, until i had the brilliant idea to get some more supportive, comfortable, and durable 4th gen seats until my car becomes a garage queen in a few years!!

OK guys how much should i offer for both the TA seats and the SS seats... I mean i'm i dont really want to spend alot of money here (HS student) so i kinda lowballed on the TA seats at $150 plus shipping and the guy said he wouldnt take that low... (he also said that the small tear was being repaired as we speak). So basically i told him to give me his bottomline. I also want to make an offer on the SS seats as well.
I mean im not gona go crazy just to get leather. I have an excellent option to get the cloth ones for an amazing price..so if i cant afford to get the leather ones, would the cloth ones look OK?

I think the highest i may go is like $200-$225...because i need to consider shipping too (easily $80-$100+). I'd really like to get some leather seats for that price but i doubt it... I may just end up with the cloth ones...

OK guys the 94 TA seats are out...Guy put em on ebay, and told me the reserve ($300 + shipping costs) which is too much for me. If anyone wants em feel free to bid.
Anyway, so i should be getting pics of the 98 SS seats tonight, and i will probably make an offer. The guy says they are in amazing condition. The only seat that looks like anyone has even saten in it is the drivers seat. I was thinking about offering $200-$250 for them.
Also, a guy has a set of tan leather seats out of a 95Z, basically the same deal as above. Great condition. He wants $225 plus shipping. I dont think thats bad. What do you guys think?

Also, i have the split folding rear seats in my car now, and i am wondering how much of a problem they are gonna cause when installing the 4th gen seats? I know people have said there may be problems...although i couldnt quite understadn exactly waht it was. And i dont want to hack out any part or anything because one day i do plan on putting the 3rd gen seats back in for car show purposes and what not....

4th gen rear seats
The 4th gen rear seats bolt right in, and the hook that holds them up works to. I had a 87 camaro and used 98 camaro front/rear seats bolted right up and wired in the power seat np , pretty sure it be the same for the firebird. Black/leather/power/front/rear for $100 but I had to pull myself, dont really match well but I thought it was a good deal after seeing some of the outagous e-bay adds.

Guys big question: How much shipping am i realistically looking at here? Obviously if i get the cloth ones there wont be any shipping... but some of the people with these seats are in GA, CO, and CA. How much shipping am i looking at for both front and rear? What company would be the cheapest (fedex, UPS, USPS), and would it be possible to save money by doing terminal pickup?
If the mods dont mind im gona post this in the parts for sale section too, so i can get more responses on shipping costs...

i don't have any pictures but it's on the middle hump. When we converted my buddies car we just took the whole bracket out, instead of cutting the bar that way if he ever went back to split seats we could just tack weld it back in. the bar is the middle pivot point for the 2 seats.

Think of your transmission tunnel, the really big bump that keeps the passengers legs apart. Now, think where the seats pivot in the middle. Right there, welded to the transmission tunnel, are two, say, 1/4 inch metal rods pretty close together... Welded across them at their tops is a longer rod, so it extends past the first two, which were vertical, and this one is horizontal. Your seats have holes in them that this rod fits into, providing the middle pivot point.
I learned that in the tear down a week or 2 ago.. I'd imagine a dremel thingy with a cutting disk could take them off pretty easily.

Anyone have any pictures of really nice, or just upgraded, front seats, but stock rears? I don't really want to buy rears.. They've, in my time owning the car, been used ONCE... But, if it looks tacky, then I suppose I will.. It isn't a show car, so I would think that 4th gen black SS seats with folded down black cloths would look ok..I hope...

Here is my before and after, when I swapped out my seats for some tan cloth seats out of a 1995 Formula.
And this first picture is where the split rear seat post is located, and the second is a close-up. And I didn't have to remove it, as it caused no problem with folding the seat down, and I did want to give myself the option to go back to the 3rd gen seats, at some point.
And you can see by this side by side shot, just how much of an improvement I made over my original seats. Much better bolsters and padding.
Leon.

Hey guys i got the pictures of the seats from the 98 SS...everything looks good except theres the usual wear on teh driver side. Heres the pic. It looks kinda bad. I am wondering if leather reconditioner will fix that or if thats just gona tear any time now... Please someone let me kno about it... I dont want to buy these particular seats if the drivers side is gona tear within a few hundred/thousand miles. I also would rathe rnot have it reuplholstered. Like basically will leather reconditioner fix that or is it doomed...

Sickness you have seats out of a newer SS right? Maybe with 4th gen camaro seats the bar doesnt have to be removed. Also, was there any like handy work to be done for the seats to fit in with the bar, or did they fit in perfectly??

alrite ive decided not to even bother with the above seat...
So now its down to the Cloth 1993 Camaro Seats--$125 and no shipping
OR
Tan Leather seats outta a 95 Z28 for $225 plus shipping
The thing im concerned about with the leather IS NOT the price, but i am unsure if they would clean up with some good leather conditioner and cleaner...
I really need you guys input as to what i should get. Ill probably get the leathers if people think theyd clean up beautifully...if not the cloth is a 'cant miss' deal.

definitely get those! thats what i would get they look beautiful and i personally like cloth better b/c with leather they get hot when its hot and real cold when its cold. i really like the look of leather which would be the only reason why i would get leather but to me those cloth ones in your pictures look alot better than the leather ones. thats just my opinion but if it where me thats what id do hands down and you'd be saving so much money.

Actually that picture was taken right after i got my car, and it still had those in it from the dealer. It does have the nice stockers under that..and i think you'll be pleased to know that since that picture was taken i got rid of those plastic mats. I do have another NOS set of floor mats im savin until the ones i have in it now get dirty.
As far as the seats, the guy with the 95Z leather seats is gona send me some pics today after he cleans them. I am leaning towards the cloth ones though just because of their condition and price. Any other opinions would be great!!!!!

I have enough money now to buy exhaust, maybe a cat, and 4th gen seats, while still keeping plenty of money in the bank in case something breaks in my car...
