Crystal Clear Parking Lamps (89 Camaro)

I know it's been done before, but I figured I would post my results.

1.) Removed the stock parking lamp assemblies.
2.) Using a Dremel with cutting wheel, I cut off the stock lens from the housing.
3.) Removed internal refletor-lens.
4.) Using a bench grinder and bench mounted sander, I ground and sanded the housings to be perfectly flat.
5.) Cleaned and Degreased inside of housings.
6.) Painted inside of housings with "chrome" spraypaint.
7.) Cut 1/4" Lexan to size of housings.
8.) Using 2 part, 5 min, clear epoxy, affixed lexan to housings.
9.) Ground down edges of lexan to match the edges of the housings.
10.) Masked and painted outside edge of Lexan.

I don't like the way it looks with the silver border, I am repainting the border black when I get a chance.

I was hoping I could get them to match my headlights

I'm gonna have to keep playing with them to get the right look.

Very cool and unique but i dunno new parking lights just look really good for me...they look like there broken and you cant tell a lens is in place...just from afar it seems.

Thats some good work.

If I had gone to all the trouble for that, I would probably tint the clear lightly with body color.

Nice mod, look sharp. I'm interested in doing this myself, a few questions though. Where did you buy the Lexan and how much $ did it run you, and as an alternative to buying lexan, could the stock plastic lens be sanded and polished with a rubbing compound, sort of like the method for the tail light polishing?

polishing the old ones still doesnt cut it at times most are too far gone with small spider webing cracks and yellowing.

Im sure you can by plexglass at say home depot or something thats what i used.

I also painted mine black heres some pics....

jcurrieirocz dude i love those little round lights on your car in the grill area but what are they and what do they do?

jimp2001 man those lights look sharp i agree you should paint the surround black and also do the blue amber bulb. that would set it off nice.
