make sure if you buy a cage kit you get the one with the bent door bars that allow use of the factory armrests. I just happened to finish stripping out my interior for my cage and SFCs when its done ill post a pic or two
also Spohn sells a kit with the bent door bars or a swing out kit

Yea like just2quickz28 said try doing a search; this topic comes up quite a bit. Here are a few links:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...=roll+bar+pics
http://www.cecoatings.com/images/ot...tures/Rollbars/
I dint spend much time finding the links posted above, but they might help a little.
Also search for Kandied91z and take a look at his roll bar. It by far is my favorite.

I just started my cage install. I'm not a good welder, plus I only have a flux core welder. NHRA says it has to be welded with a mig. So I'm cutting and fitting bars, tacking them in place and when all tacked up I'm gonna call a pro welder to come out and finish weld it all.
Here's some of the pics I have so far.

Nope atleast not for NHRA drag racing the rear seat cross bar cant be bolt in/pin in. It has to be welded fully.
Also has to be level with your shoulders to 4" below your shoulders. Never above and no more than 4" blow shoulders.
Head with helment on cant be no more than 6" from front of main hoop to rear of your helment. If your head is under main hoop or behind it you have to add more bars to the main hoop/side bar
Side bar can be swing out/ removeable for cars running 8.50 seconds and slower in the 1/4 mile.
But side bars must pass by between your shoulder and elbow.
Rear bars has to be installed at aleast a 30 degree angle.
Where you mount the bars to floor, you must weld a 6" x 6" x 1/8" thick plate to floor, then weld bar to it.

I herd welders can be liable if the roll cage fails and you get hurt by it or something. A guy i know siad his welder made him sign a contract saying he cant be held liable if the welds fail.

Am I too Tall for CE Cage???
Hey guys. I have an 87 TA that Im doing an LS1 swap on soon. The car is going to have alittle bit of kick to it due to the LS1 being worked. Im thinkin about the CE 8-pt cage. Ide like to have the protection, rigidity, and harness mounts that a cage provides. My only concern is that im 6'5. I sit with my seat all the way back, and the back tilted down pretty good. I know there are rules about how far away from the main hoop you can be, but will I even be able to mount a cage in there and still be comfy?? Ide like to keep my back seats, for looks only. But...if I needed to I could part with them. Let me know how you tall guys like your cages! Any pics of tall people sitting comfortably with a cage will help!. Thanks!

I'm about your same height. In my formula I couldn't mount the main hoop on the floor like the direction said. I smoothed out the rear seat area and mounted it there. I still had to cut a little on the plastic on the seat cause I had harness tabs weld on the floor too. I had to delete the rear seats because the bars would have mounted directly through the cushions.
Sorry the pics are so small, but once sounddomain became cardomain they resized all my pics on the site.
Pic of main hoop on seat hump:
Pic of seats in my normal driving position:
Pic of swing out to seat clearance (and leg room available):
Side view with door shut (notice you can't really see the main hoop at all now):
Rear view (very noticable):
From inside the car:
I went by tech rules at the time when I made all my positions. Only one I didn't really meet was 3" above driver's head to roof. That one just isn't going to happen. I did mount the sidebar just right so I could squeeze down in the seat to meet that measurement if it's a must though.
Only thing I would have done different would be adding more bars. I would have liked to have some to trigulate off the rear shock area. My rear bars mount over the gas tank now. Maybe I'll add those eventually. My rear bars aren't even migg'd to the sheet metal yet, there just attached with some silicone to keep from bouncing because the welder didn't feel comfortable doing it with the gas tank in place.

Awsome man thanks for the pics!! How is your leg room with the bars in place? Im swapping in a 6 speed also so...I need to move that left leg around pretty good. So there was no way you could keep the back seats?? That sucks. I just put 4th gen leather back there. I had them sitting around for over a year, and just installed them 4 days ago. haha...guess they are comign back out.

You MIGHT beable to keep them but you would have to take them to a shop to have a new cover put on after cutting into the cushion so in my opinion it's not worth it.
Plently of left leg room. I actually put my foot down where the clutch should be. You can mount the bars on the floor about anywhere down there as long as you put the 6x6 plate down. I picked that spot because it was the easiest to roll the plate to fit and allowed me room to put my foot past the bar.
