it appears to be a bushing for the sway bars...what it's doing under the rear seat is beyond me though

Well, this car was rebuilt from a salvage yard. So, I woudn't be to surprised if it is a sway bar bushing.

Shock absorber bushing

the top of the shock absorbers are behind the back seats under the rug, when the shocks were replaced, they must have dropped one of the old bushings. There are 4 on the top of the shocks, 2 on each side.

I looked, and there was only one bushing per shock. Should I be worried about this or is it ok.

Thanks!

should be one bushing on each side, sandwiching the floor between the two...guess i shoulda thought about the shock mount bushing...the are essentially the same thing though.

From inside the car you can only see one on each side.

looks a bit like the rubber piece I had to replace on my hatch struts too

they went between the struts and the wall of the interior on the mounting bolt above the seatbacks, they keep the struts from rattling and moving out of geometry.
