locating hood pins when drilling holes
need tips on how to precisely locate the spots on the hood at which to drill for the hood pins
dont want to screw up
seems like the only real way is with a marker and a tape and lots of measuring
is there a trick i am overlooking ?
even jut an 1/8" of an inch can be real bad, as it would screw up the hood gap around the hood, etc
im about to replace my current hood on the z28 with a flat hood
the current hood is pinned
no latching assembly
thanks

put a little grease on top of the pins and lower the new hood till it touches, look at marks and drill
or stick some play-doh on the under side of the hood and do the same as above always a few ways to skin that ole' cat

i thought about doing it that way too but the car doesnt use hood hinges and i wouldnt be able to shut it in perfect alignment onto the pins to leave the impression- plus i wouldnt evne know if it was perfectly aligned wit hit shutting on the pins, it would never be down far enough inbetween the fenders to be able to tell if its aligned right
hmmm.
not sure how to go about this, other than very careful measurements after i relocate the pins
hum.,.
this is the hood im removing and scrapping:

its got that big stupid black plastic thing riveted to it,
the whole middle of the hood is cut out under that plastic thing
i think its ugly
i have a nice stock flat base camaro hood that will look much better/cleaner, imho
what do you think?
thanks
