front seat restoration

i really want my front seats restored from the tan they are now, to a nice black, vinyl or cloth, not leather. i was quoted 600 bucks for the front buckets from a reputable shop that does alot of custom stuff on old hotrods that are mint.
does this sound fair?

Buy the seat covers and do it yourself. You can get them from any vendor that sells restoration parts.

Like they say,you can redo them yourself. However if you want a pro to do them,I was quoted $600 also by a local shop to redo my ls/conteur seats.FWIW

I was quoted 275 a seat at a local guy here per bucket. Thats with new foam. He does pretty good work too, helped me restore my 79 datsun.

Do you really need to have the original seats in there? A real nice set of fourth gen seats, non-leather, would be less than 200 bucks about anywhere. Buy some third gen seats with good foam, reupholster with a kit from Hawks. Those are pretty easy to put on, have the foam backed covering, several different colors and materials for that car. $600 would hurt.
