Stock Hood weight vs. VFN 4.5" Cowl. and fitment.
Well I being one who has searched for this and found few answers, Figured I would post it for future use.
My stock GTA style hood weighs 52 lbs with out hinges.
The bolt on 4.5" VFN cowl weighed 27 lbs.
Just Bought VFN 4.5" cowl that I waited almost (2) months for, after first 6 weeks they sent a lift off - I ordered a bolt on!
Then a week and a half later or more I got the right one.
Fitment,
Fits great front to back and side to side, gaps are pretty nice!
The front sticks up about 1/4 at nose but even with lights. I should be able to prop up nose some to fit better.
Both rear corners stick up, mostly driver side - pass side about 1/8 inch, which I can live with, drivers about 1/2 inch and looks terrible. I am gonna try elongating the holes on hinge to let hood drop some. It fit the rest of fender contour well, so I am sure If I drop that it will be to low on middle of fender, but I can probably work with.
As for the Cowl, It looks rediculous! Its huge! A serious vision obstruction! Try going around a upgade R-Hand turn - you are totally blind!
I think I am going to sell it and take the 25 lbs back from the steel hood, I am not sure I can handle that cowl.
Before car looked like a 14 second car, now it looks like a 8 second pro stocker.
I liked running 10s in my stock looking car. I hate running 10s in something that looks faster.

I also wanted a little clearance in case I swith to Victor EFI eventually over mini ram. Currently with new hood I have about 10" of clearance above the mini ram, due to its low design.

I hate my VFN hood. It looks good but the gaps are horrible, it sticks up about half an inch all around... Junk

I really think i am - Like I said - I am pretty sure I can make it fit
real good with some nose adjustment and elong gate holes on hinge some.
My friend bought a Monte Carlo hood and had to do same thing, don't know why but its seems common for fiberglass hoods to sit high in rear.
