Functional SS hood?
Do they make a functional ss hood? not the double hump hood. or can it be made using the ram air air filter system?

Thats a good question. And one I've wanted to answer by making mine functional.
To make it functional, you have to cut out the fiberglass in the hole for better airflow - done
Then you have to custom make an airbox - never tried it
Then you have to put in airfilters and some way to keep water out - the hardest part.
With my TPI 350, you could take off the air snorkle and look through the hood at the throttle body. So its not impossible. But it would take a good deal of fabrication and thought.
The real question is, has anyone completed it already, and would they be willing to show pics and give measurments.
I havnt put my hood back on yet, but I do think my LS1 will also sit far enough back that I can fab a box....can't wait to see

I think with an LS1 u might be able to use the stock SS air intake as it sits upside down with some modification.. well thats my plan at least.

I would like to do this as well! I am switching to an SS hood and I would like to make it functional, however, I have a miniram setup so I hope that too will give me enough room to mount the air box.

If you have a carb or TBI setup then you could cut a hole in the bottom of the hood and maybe fit a Ram Air intake from a 70's F-Body under there.
