DIY: Sanding/polishing after spraying?
Just a quick one regarding the steps since spraying my car. I've just finished respraying it in 2-pack PPG (3 coats) and have just noticed a few bits of dust that seem to have landed on the roof.
Its doesnt bother me greatly, but if there was a method of sanding/cutting it out i figured id give it ago. Regardless of the dust, there is also a very minor orange peel i can see and wanted to know what steps/process I should take to remove it.
Cheers

wet sand and buff.
what you do is get some 3m wet sanding papaer and a sanding block 4". you put some luke warm water in a bucket and a drop or two of dish soap. the soap helps float the dust so it does not stick in the sand paper. keep the part being wet sanded wet, change your paper often as needed. wipe the area often to see if its all smooth. you must use the block to be smooth. after its all nice n smooth you need a electric or air buffer 2k+ rpm a wool pad 3m and some perfect it III polish is nice, and some finish it swirl remover for dark colors, and a foam pad for that. then you buff till nice n shiney. being very careful around edges as you can buff right through pretty quick. 2,k rpm is pleanty fast for wool pad you can go 3.5 k but be carefull, the foam pad with swirl remover run at 1.5 k nice n slow. when done you can go over with some meguires quick detailer.

thanks for the info. How long do you wait after painting your car? is it days weeks or months? can you get out orange peel from the clear coat or do you have to do that in the color coat? Thanks again.

can you get the peel out from the clear coat? I was not sure if you had to get it out before you clear coat.

I have the dust specs in the colour wasnt planning on putting on a clear coat, since its a solid colour.
I have 3 coats of the colour down so should have plently of room to cut back with 1200, 1500, 2000 then buffer right?
