Need help finding new part for T-Tops or fixing old one

After 3 years and one failed attempt at mustering $3000 to pay a friend to paint the car, another friend of mine commissioned his son, Austin, who is in college for auto body, to completely re-do the paint and body on my TransAm.

I about fell over backward when I found out I would only have to pay for supplies and that I was going to be able to let them use the PPG paint that I had already purchased 2 years earlier.

I did have to buy a new rear quarter skin for the pass side, and I will have to replace all the door seals when I get it home, but hey the tops were leaking anyway so no big deal.

What I need help with is the black metal strip that the glass tops slip into down the center of the roof. Austin said that it is totally rusted out and that I need to replace it. I looked through the Classic Industries catalog and found nothing. I have not even seen the damage or the part in person yet as the car is an hour away. All I have so far are a few pics form him through the email.

Where would I be able to find a new piece. I would cruise the bone yards but I am sure that they would all look like mine and be worthless.

Any ideas on how to repair this piece if no new ones are available?

EDIT: The pieces that are rusted out could also be the rails that the seal fit into. I will have to go see the car to be sure.

Here is one more pic. I can't wait to get it home to finish it in time for next spring's cruises.

I know it's a bad scan but, I cleaned it up as best I could...
1.0 (though looks like a 'D' ) is the labor time for install.
The scans are from a GM collision repair guide.
The p/n is the 8# one after the 1.D you posted above.

If you use that # (10249043) and plug it into the links on the same page from my site, at the top, they link to www.gmpartsdirect.com and www.newgmparts.com
That way you can get pricing for OEM parts a little easier then having to call or drive to your local dealerships.
I guess maybe I didn't make the guide as easy to use/understand as I though I did... ?

i have a somewhat related question. What is the difference in the center metal piece and the weatherstripping between 82-84 and 85-92?

I saw it today and it got a ding in the top that is pretty bad and the glass wouldn't fit now, or else I would fix it.
