A little mod
I got a hold of some expanded mettle a few months ago and had intended to fab a grill for my car since I had ripped out the dry rotted piece of black plastic that once occupied the space
Well tonight a couple hammers a jigsaw a pair of kleins and I got around to it
It cost me absolutely nothing so that counts for something and I think it looks alright
(Please no stupid posts saying I should have bought one and so on because Im not going to spend that much on a peice of plastic)
Heres the pictures

It took me about 30 minutes to do
I plan to get a black plate with a chevy emblem on it for the middle area

I have it fitted in place in the picture
I used some electrical wire (Where you cant see it) to secure it
I might change the color to an aluminum color later
On a side note I had no grill but I had the material to make this one and after paying $313 for tires and still having to replace an idler arm and struts I dont have the money to buy expensive materials

It looks cheap (to me) because your 'mod' is a clear indication that you opted for a budget fix instead of spending the dough on the appropriate fixture.
It looks very out of place, in my opinion. But what do I know... I don't even have a grille

behind the license plate area would definitely look better, even if you do put another plate over the center area i think having it recessed further would look better.

the mesh needs to be finer and going the opposite direction (horizontal instead of vertical)

hmm, good call nova...
anyone care to do a photoshop to see what that would look like?
I think it's pretty slick. An emblem in the center will make it pop more.

Thanks for the input
Changing the direction was something I already wanted to do
The piece I had was already cut off and I lacked the appropriate tool to cut another strip so I went ahead and did that one(I might make another one late like that)
I will think about messing with it later
Heck it still looks better than the stock louver peice

yep yep, cool idea, i know ur on a budget soo the first thing u can do to make it look a lil better is take some of these guys advise and put the mesh behind the the center thingy, the next step would be to get some finer mesh and then give it a nice glossy paint job and it should look really cool, I know what a pain meshing (lol "meshing") can be I have a turbo hood and cutting and placing all that mesh for the isnt fun.
