Dome, overhead console map lights, perhaps lights in the mirror, driver and pass side kick panel area, console clock, hatch area--dash lights, radio, HVAC, rear defogger, of course, etc.

there are lights illuminating the floor on your kickpanels, and one in the hatch right under the latching mechanism

Same here, the only light that works on the interior of my car is the dome light. Anybody know what it could be? Is this a common problem in 3rd gens or somtin?

My 85 IROC has the "floor/courtesy lights" (the bulbs are 631s). There are holes in the upper plastic panels (the ones above your feet). The bulb's socket twists into the holes from above. The holes are a little bit dimpled, so you may have to look closely or run your hand over the area. I figured all cars had them.

I added the 4th gen rear view mirror with the 2 lights in it.
All of the 3rd gen birds I've had had the floor lights in them.
If you look at the clutch pedal, right above it is the floor light
and there is a light right above the heater controls

The Camaro versions do not have lense covers and are more unobtrusive.

my 86 has all of these lights. did you try turning the headlight pop out switch to the left till it clicks? this turns on all the other lights. when you turn it to the right it dims the gauges and radio/ac controls, but when you turn it to full illumination and then even more to the left all the lights come on. as far as i know, thats the only way to turn them on. try it when its dark.

The dome light in my bird does not work, and I can't figure out why. I put in a new bulb and replaced the fuse, but still nothing. I need to do an electrical current test, but I haven't got around to it.

Just be advised the dome lights have kind of a weird wiring set up.
The little push switches in the doors provide the ground for the circuit to turn on the dome light. That one threw me for quite a while until I figured that out.
You might want to check those switches if your dome light isn't coming on.
To add a floor courtesy light (which I've been meaning to do), theoretically all you would have to do is tap into fused power for one side of any added light socket and tap the other side of the socket into the door switch wire. Voila! Floor lights come on when you open the door!

Bimma86 I believe they were only on the higher optioned/model cars such as the Z28's and IROC's etc... I may be wrong though.

irocberry,
I'd be surprised if you didn't have the rear 'cargo' light--this one must be switched on my hand.

Well, 91, that hole seems to be the place where the sock plugs in.

Maybe the light/socket is tucked up in the dash for some reason. Take a peek.

Thanks VERNW, my domelight now works after fartin' around with the fuse box and the door switches. Weird thing is, if you open the passenger door only, it won't work. Oh well, I'll be by myself in the car most of the time. I also found the floor lamp socket and put in a bulb from my El Camino side marker, it works! I don't see a light above the heater controls though.

No problem, glad I could help. Chances are the passenger door switch is dirty or bad, or the wire going to it broken somewhere....

The wiring to the bulb is white and orange. Sounds to me as if someone's been fooling around under the dash if the computer fell.
