ground effects mounting

I had to pull my driver's side fender on my 88 TA about a month ago to replace it with a j-yard one because some moron decided to pull a hit and run on my car while it was parked in a parking lot. Torn nose, destroyed fender, bent nose support. In case anyone was wondering, a new nose runs about $350 online and the nose support runs at $130

While I was unbolting everything I realized that the previous owner had glued the ground effects onto the fender because the studs were missing from the speed nut assembly. After getting mad at the PO again, I decided to tape the gfx down as a temporary fix.

I think that the gfx on the j-yard car were held on by a roughly 12" long metal bar with two or three studs on it. Does my memory serve me well or am I way off? If I remember correctly, is the bar/nut assembly detachable from the gfx of will I have to replace the whole driver's side?

I do believe that's how your year is mounted. I know the 91-92 have a 10" bar with speed nuts holding the lower side GFX onto the fender. From what I recall, the metal bar is not held in tightly, but I don't think it's meant to be removed. Be careful when working with older GFX because my junkward experience has shown me that these things sometimes like to crack if you beand them in just the right way. If you need to remove the bar, do it @ the yard before you buy it.

There are more knowledgeable people here for your year...I'd wait for one of them to verify what I'm saying before taking it as fact.

bumpage. I would much rather buy the stud bar from someone on here instead of running to a junk yard just to pull one if it’s at all possible.
