Locking hood pin question
I want to get hood pins for my car so I can bypass the stock latch since I've had some problems with it sticking, and locking just makes me feel better. Anyway, I want those flushmount locking ones- not the little tiny locks on top of the hood pins. In the summit catalog it says not to remove the stock hood latch, is that a bad idea? It defeats the purpose in my case. Also, how hard are they to mount? Any hood play/lifting? Thanks alot!

You leave the emergency catch, the part you pull to raise the hood, but you leave the lock part off. So you dont have to pull the release under the dash cause the little peice that it locks on to is gone, but the emergency catch (bigger part) is still there in case one of your hood pins didnt lock correctly.
Also, on my fiberglass hood I removed the spring as well

I totally overlooked that... leave the catch, remove the release cable. I'm keeping my steel hood for now so I plan on keeping the struts. I like my hood keeping itself up so I'd probably leave them either way, just get a weaker set of them.

I'm still nervous knowing how much aftermarket junk is out there. I'd love to see a set in person and get a feel for them. Some guy around me has some on his maro so I think I'll check that out too.
