For anyone that has changed out gauges to ones with different mileage.

First of all, is there any way that I can set the odometer to my mileage before I put it in the car. I doubt this is possible. So, can I get some kind of official document or something saying that I am getting the gauges replaced at x miles to say y miles. Because right now i have around 78k on an 85 mph cluster. And I just bought a 145 mph cluster with mileage in the 90ks. So how can I prove that I did the swap when I did it? Thanks a lot.

Get an old speedo cable and hook it up to a power drill. Only spin it forward though, if you go reverse there is a good chance you will mess up the gears.

It comes apart real easy and is real easy to set to your original mileage. When you take it apart and play with it, you will see why so many people went to jail for "rolling em back"!

You will have to spin it 80K miles to get close to the correct mileage. 80,000miles/145 mph=551.724 hours to spin it with a drill. Double the speed, 275.862 HOURS. And something will probably break in the speedo spinning at 290mph for 275 hours. I did mine by taking it apart and rolling the odo 10 or 12 years ago, took 5 or 10 minutes. You do the math.

Even easier is to just swap the odometer rolls between the two speedo heads.

I need to reset mine 'cause the original odometer was broken. Got a new (used) Speedo, but how do you get at the number rolls? Looks like you need to take the needle off? How do I do that without breaking it?

You don't have to take the needle off, just remove the screws holding the face on and you'll have enough room to tilt the face to get the numbers out.
