How to post pictures

There are tons of people that haven't gotten the hang of posting pictures, so they are usually emailed to someone else to post it for them. So, hopefully this helps those people out.

Mods, I think this would be a good sticky for people to use as a reference.

First, your picture has to be edited correctly. Nobody here likes seeing a small picture that's surrounded by a full page of white space. Every version of Windows comes with Paint, so use that.

Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint

Once your picture is in the white space, don't skip to saving it. Crop it so that all of the white space is gone, and all that you can see is the picture. There are little blue dots in each corner, so drag the lower right hand dot to the corner of the picture.

Digital Camera Pictures
If you took a picture with your digital camera, especially high-resolution cameras, you'll need to shrink your image so it can be attached to the message board. (You can't attach pictures that are bigger than 100KB.) In Paint, go to the Image menu at the top, and click "Stretch/Skew..."

In the Stretch Horizontal and Stretch Vertical boxes, enter a number less than 100% in each box. The two numbers must be the same or your picture will come out distorted. In this case, I made the picture 50% of the size it was originally:

Saving your picture
Save your picture in JPEG format. You probably won't have a problem with thirdgen.org saying that your picture is too big this way.
File > Save as...

You have two options: host your pictures somewhere else (not attaching them to your posts) or by attaching them. Remember, if you attach pictures, you cannot attach more than 3 pictures in one thread. If they are hosted elsewhere, there is no limit.

Attaching pictures
If you attach your pictures, you can't put more than one picture in a post. You have to post an attachment, then reply with another attachment to post two pictures. To attach a file, simply click the browse button in the attach file box, and find your file. Click Submit New Thread, and you're done. (You have to have something written in the message area to be able to post an attachment.)

The IMG button
If your pictures are hosted somewhere else, use the IMG button above the message box when you post a new topic. It will ask you to enter the URL of the image you are posting, so enter that in the box and click Ok. It will put some code in the body of your message. Leave it alone, but you can write before or after the code for your image.

You can only put 9 pics per post, but there is no limit per thread
