91-92 Aero GFX Swap
i remember reading some useful info on this, but i can't seem to find any of it now...and now i'm startin to consider doing it...if i remember right its not a direct bolt in, something with the back brackets on the side skirts or something....also, i wanna mold them in, how do I go about doing this? do i just mold the lines in with bondo or is there a better way of going about doing this...any input would be great..thanks

Car: 1988 Camaro

I just started the swap yesterday. I have an '88 camaro so my stock ground effects should be the same as yours.
Take the rear seat bottom out, take panel on side next to rear seat out., pull the thin rubber "cover" off from over the hole.
Push the fiberglass batting out of the way, and you'll see a stud sticking through with an 11 mm head "speed nut" on it. Take that nut off.
Along the lenght of the GFX on top theres like 5 or 6 screws, take them out..
under the car, along the lenght there's 6 or 8 7 mm head bolts, take those out.
Now pop off the badge (camaro, RS, Z28 or what ever) at front of GFX.
There's 2 screws under that, they are at an angle, take them out..
GFX is now off.
To put on the '91/92 side ground effect. You will need to do a few little mods.
At the rear coner of the bracket thats made onto the car, you will need to cut it.. I cut mine at an angle with a 3" cut off wheel and a die grinder. I'll put a pic up of mine after I cut it, so you will see.
Now the little slots on that bracket thats made onto the car.. All of mine but the rear 2 on 1 side and rear 3 on other side lined up.
For the ones that didnt line up, I just took a small drill it and stuck it in the slot and enlarged the slot some.
Now stick the GFX up over the bracket, and put a few screws in the top rear.
The 91/91 GFX should have 2 studs up front. With it put up against car, mark the bottom of your fender where studs touch.
Take GFX back down, and I started with a small drill bit to keep it from "walking" , Then I drilled both holes out with a 7/16" bit to give me some "wiggle room" in case my marks was off alittle.
Paint over the drilled holes so rust won't form.
Now put the GFX and bolt it on.
Can't tell you about the rear mounting mount of Side GFX, cause mine was missing off my 91 GFX, so I just drilled a hole through the back that matched with the hole in the car, and slipped a big headed stove bolt through the vent hole in GFX and into the hole I drilled.. Can''t see it from out side of car so I was happy with it.
Can't tell you about the door parts yet, cause I aint got to them yet. Just finished up the rocker panel parts today..
