Car: 1998 Trans Am WS6
Engine: LS1
Transmission: M6
broke a piece when dropped steering column... WHAT IS IT?
I broke that piece that has a cable type of thing connected to the brake pedal when i dropped my stering column... What is it and what does it do and will it affect my performance at all?

Axle/Gears: 3.27 9-bolt
If it's an electrical wire to brake pedal, either brake light switch, cruise control switch or tcc switch. You'll have to be more specific or provide a photo.

sk8runeg, do you have a picture or a better description of what it is you broke? You should have a rod that goes to the brake booster, and either one or two electrical switches. One for cruise control and one for brake lights. They all will effect the car to varying degrees.

I found out that it is the cruise control mechanism that is notorious for breaking when the steering column is dropped. Thanks for the help guys.
