American Sports Car Design - SS Hood

Is there anyone in the Cols, Ohio area with one of these hoods on their Camaro? I'd like to see one in person.

If not - can someone shoot some pics of the underside of theirs for me? I need to know how far back the scoop is from the hood latches, and how deep the scoop is in the inside. I put a SR on my Z, and the stock hood will not clear.

Thanks.

Do a search for SS hood, there should be plenty of hits. I'm sure someone has a pic.

you will be fine with an sr, no strut tower bar for you though.. just for your information i fit one on a 91 z with very slight modification, had to remove a slight under bracing section on the hood but it works great. cleared with plenty of room on the ss hood though.

I've already checked it - no go on the stock hood. Cutting the bracing will only buy me about 1/4 - 1/2", I need more than that.

I have ES poly motor mounts, and they seem to be a little tall.

double check your install then. used energy suspension poly mounts with the above as well. but yes the poly is a bit taller. i used new gm rubber ones on my car though with the ss hood. less vibration and more clearance. if anyone is looking for a new set of gm motor mounts pm me.

Thanks Kev - I'll do that. I'm on the far west side, right off of 70 - so if you're going anywhere in Cols - you'll go past me.

Kandied - I put the hood on exactly as it was with the old TPI setup (which was all but perfectly aligned) . There was about a 1/2" gap, and it wasn't going down any further. The bracing inside was very shallow - cutting it wouldn't have made up the difference. I was originally planning a new hood, so it's not that big of a deal that I'm going have to do it now.

sounds like your motor mounts pushed it too high. o'well, good luck with it.

A bunch of the members are from your neck of the woods, Coloumbus/Cinncinatti area.

One in particular has the SS hood and I'm sure he'd let you see it anytime.
