Ventilation door lever broke

If you look under the dash, you can see where the cable to control the temperature attaches to a lever that opens and closes the door inside the heater box. That little lever snapped off on the car I just bought. I've got the entire dash apart and the heater core out, but can't figure out how to remove that door to replace it. Several parts of the lever are missing, apparently it was a violent separation.

Is it even possible to remove that door? Is there any other way to replace that lever?

I would also like to know how to replace that lever that the hot/cold slider cable connects to at the heater box. Mine is broken, and I'm nore sure how to go about replacing it?

Help muchly appreciated!
