As I said before, I think if you're going for the Yenko theme, you can't have the high rise spoiler. In addition, I think the Yenko stripe flows really well with the decklid spoiler. Has anyone thought of making the 3- piece spoiler just one piece (the center secton) like they did on the original Yenko? What about the Hawk's 5" spoiler?

I love these concepts-
A HUGE pat on the back to all you open minded peoples
my only thought to add is... what about using the "s/c" lettering if you were modding and painting a 3rdgen sport coupe?
haha

I never liked the way the two stripes connected towards the bottom so I did away with it.

Re: Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
I think it looks great. I'm in the middle of doing second restore on my 69 yenko (clone). The stripes add something different, makes your car different. It looks very clean and not over done. Paint them on don't use decal setup. They only last about 5-7 years. But with decal if you change your mind down road they can be removed. I had custom decals made for my 84 bird. Some people hate them others love them. I like them.
Its your car do what you like not what others like or don't like. Go for it.

Re: Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
Personally I think it would be cool if you called it a Yenko Camaro Tribute (YCT for the hood)

I think they should have Photoshopped the stripes onto a none gfx car. Weren't the Yenko's originally base cars with big engines?

sounds like an awesome idea, but have you considered instead of yellow going with the yenko blue with the white stripes? that was the classic yenko color..just a suggestion

Alot of these cars are really b.a.! I think that the black strip would be killer with a iroc/rs spoiler or even a high rise with the black strip going across the side facing the trunk. The one picture on the trunk where the lines dont meet is also killer!

Re: Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
how has gm ruined the Malibu? Last time I checked, it is now what it was originally, a mid sized family car. As long as they don't try to make a chevelle out of the current Malibu, then they haven't ruined anything.

Re: Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
originally a malibu was a muscle car. even in 4door trim they were a muscle car. and no to knock the current malibu because they are a good car, but they areant a muscle car

Re: Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
Spearson, to be honest, I don't think the original 1stgen triangle thing flowed with the hood either. I just did what I would do If I used a Yenko theme.
......and I used illustrator. I think it's easier to do striping than in Photochop. I have TONS of crazy stripe ideas
Here's another take on the sidestripe. Again, I realize it's not totally accurate.

First of all you're gonna have to use heritage stripes as basis for the main body stripes. The triangle is just hideous on these cars, but you can use one if you dont insist on using super huge, long hood stripes.
And the hood just slopes up too much. you can't really run full body side stripes without it looking goofy, so it has to start around the front wheel area instead of the headlights.
But at least this rendering actually takes into account the body lines towards the back of the car as the shoulder of the car gradually lowers itself back to the rear spoiler.

problem is, I just havent seen one that looked "Just Right"
The rear quarters and doors on this car are the best examples I have seen yet, but when it gets to the front fenders it looks out of place. If you lowered the entire stripe closer to the beauty line, and thinned it out horizontaly so that you wouldnt intersect the factory fender flares with the stripe, maybe it would be astheticaly more apealing, but I still havent see the proper way to end it on the front end, with the shape of the third gen body.

Re: Yenko Third Gen themed Camaro
i love the idea! A daytona yellow 69 yenko is my dream car. My 69 base coupe is the closest ill ever get to having one. anyway, i like the white one and you can change the shape of the stripe to follow the lines of your car whether you have it say yenko or not. the lower ground effect would be a cool place to put a yenko badge. not sure how you would make the hood stripes look right. as for the 427, you should use an ls7. the yenko was built with the best stuff from its day, i think it would be coolest if you used styling cues and the overall idea of the yenko in your build. the 2" cowl hood would be another good styling cue with the hawks 5" spoiler. Using the ls7 would offer the performance expected from a yenko, be a 427, and be more modern like your 3rd gen. then a six speed instead of an old school, less street friendly, no overdrive 4speed muncie would be suitable. And i believe the torq thrust wheels are now available in 17". Those are my ideas. I've thought about this with my 92 as i love the yenko. But its your build, make it what you want.
