Why are custom gauge faces always silver or white?

Why are custom gauge faces always silver or white?

I really like the look of the reverse indiglo gauges at night, but I want to retain the black color for during the day. Why is it that every aftermarket company makes them in white or silver? It just seems to be too loud for my taste.
