Wood inlays

So the current thing is all the aluminum inlays, I am putting a tan interior in my car and smoothing lines, so i was thinking of doing overlays but instead of aluminum, rosewood veneer. What i was wondering was... How do they finish woodgran in real cars? You know, to get the durable super polished finish, what does that take? Epoxy coating maybE? i really have no idea, but i know ill need to coat it for it to work. Any imput?
