front lisence plate bracket warps nose?
So i got in an accident and the shop I went to replaced the nose and put a lisence plate bracket on the nose, which warped the nose in on one side abit and out on the other. Took it back in this morning to complain and he said they won't fix it ever tho all their bodywork is supposed to be guaranteed. He told me that that always happens when mounting on a poly/plastic piece. whatever the nose is made out of, I dont know. Which I'm pretty sure is BS. I know most people don't have front plates, I don't want them either. But anyone who does have fron plates, and who doesn't have a warp in the nose, could some people post a couple pics, so I can print them off and show as proof to this guy that their repair crew was at fault for this? Thanks. I'm going to post a pic in abit to show the warp.

sorry to say,...but the guys at the shop are right.
I used to work at a couple different body shops, and always hated putting the front plate on the newly repaired front ends of cars like these... screws them up every time.
That's why when I repainted my car and my brothers firebird, I left the front plate OFF.
Just have to deal with the occasional hassle from the "man"
It looks like the scews that were used to attach the plate mount, is what has caused the damage, and that is to be expected, when dealing with these urethane bumper covers
Leon.

looks like you tightened them way too much
you should just go until there is light tension and then adjust each side accordingly so the plate sits straight, its plastic man
looks like you just tightened them each all the way one at a time then was like "damn, that destroyed my front end"

i didnt touch it. it was the guys at the body shop. I know it can't always happen, cuz my nose from before the accident wasn't warped like that.

That's a shame but there is a remedy while staying legal.
Just get a license plate bracket that mounts on the underside of the nose. Then you'll never have to worry about it again.

i think i might just put the plate back on. The car is white and plates in BC are white with blue digits. So at least it kind of blends in. Oh well, one more thing I can't get a ticket for.

I snatched it on ebay. There was a guy that had it built up for his TTA cuz he didn't want to into the nose. He had them made up at a machine shop. Made 12 of them(it was cheaper that way). I wound up picking it up for like $15 I think. I couldn't pass it up.

That's messed up that they did that, I would definitely be pissed.
All it takes is common sense as your putting it on to see that something is not right.
They should have put a little silicone on the screws and just put it on snug enough so the back of the plate puts a LITTLE bit of tension on the point of your bumper, then adjusted the screws on the left or right side to sit the plate straight without it being tightened too much.
The silicone will keep the screws from vibrating out since you don't want to tighten them too much.
Worked great on my bros firebird, and it didn't warp anything.
