Aftermarket Guages - Firebird/Trans Am/GTA
I want to put in a few guages to monitor the vitals on the new mill. FP, OP, and a tach.
Was just wondering if you guys could post pics of where you have mounted them. I want the interior to look stock and "clean". I was thinking of putting the two small guages to the right of the center vents and maybe the tach infront of the factory one???
What do yours look like?

Mines just a simple 2 pod holding trans temp and A/F. I went back and put white faces on the rest and edited in an Autometer logo just for the heck of it. Pretty basic old boring install.
Here's some other posts leading to some guys that have done full swaps though.

Heres what I did with some 2-1/8" guages.... these are water temp and oil pressure.
This is an old, old pic, but the guages are still the same. This did require a little modification to the center heater duct, but its easy to do. I only used two guages, but I'm sure you could fit at least 2 more around there if you wanted to.
Come check out my car some time if you want a better look.

Not the best pic, but gives u an idea
I used the stock screws that hold the dash pad down, and used hose clamps to secure them. I just adjusted them so its tough to see the clamp ends.
The air fuel guage there on the left of the pic, now matches with the colbalt auto meter guage.Thats a cheap summit one.

... Actually, thats been fixed since then. The handle has been tiled forward quite a bit more, and is 1/2 the length it is in the pic.

Thanks 88Convertible! Those are the type of pictures I am looking for. Anyone else have any pictures (especially non A-pillar ones)?

Doh! I forgot the Firebird cluster goes much farther towards the center of the dash than the Camaro's setup does.

Here is a digital version on my Camaro with stereo amplifyer gauges under the vents. The triple gauge pod was fabricated by my installer. The left most gauge is partially hidden by the phone. Order L-R is volts, current, temp.

I saved this from somewhere on this site awhile back, but I can't seem to find the thread now. I thought this was a pretty unique install.

OK, I have them roughly in the spot now....aside from the extreme need for a good cleaning, what do you guys think?

Looks good! I would like it a little more if the dimmer plastic was contoured around the guage. It seems like it's covering up a good deal of the high side of it. Course it's not that important since you can clearly see the 0-60 psi part. Not to mention the added time and effort would only go for a comestic effect and from the cam lifts and heads I'm guessing it's a car built to be driven.
