Fog Lamp Setup
I am trying to add fog lamps with original GM parts because I want it to be as stock as possible. The only part I am missing is #14 in the image. Where would I be able to get a part like that? Could I just replace it with a spring I could find at Home Depot or something? I have not seen the fog lamp setup on a Camaro so I am not sure how that spring works. If someone could shed some light I would appreciate it.

its a coil spring with loops at the end to attach to the bracket, it makes for nifty adujument.
i broke one, and bought another from home depot, dont have a part numebr to help ya in your search. But that srping just makes sure your adjusments are made.

I had a feeling that was what it was for but I didn't want to buy all my parts just to find I was outta luck by one lousy spring. I thought maybe I could find something like that at the home improvement stores, thanks.

i had one of those missing, I just kind of eyeballed it, and use a short piece of rubber hose to keep the light at the right angle. worked great, and easier than the stupid spring.

the spring is there for a reason bro.....
It counter acts gravity that way the lights do just drift out of adjustment in a day, it makes it harder andtakes years. Might want to rethink what you did now...

lol.... yeah i did a "easy fix" on them before i got trhe spring.
I had them installed pulled up to a grocery store at night with lots of glass windows, aimed my fog lights correctly.
Then the next night i noticed it not showing right. So i did the same thing. Then there was another time i did it again.
I finally took thw whole bracket out, studied its design and found out the flaw was my easy fix. Went for a spring and as far as i know perfectly aimed since.
The springs a shock absorber almost....

if you look again at the design, all the spring does is hold the bulb housing against the head of the screw. if you didn't do it that way, its wrong.
the rubber held up fine for 2 years before i took em off because they were rusty and cracked....
the screw sets the angle, and the spring makes sure the bulb follows what you adjusted.
the spring just makes it easy to adjust. since i checked the alignment, and figured out the length, it was cake.
but good luck finding that spring.

goto walmart/autozone and check out their el cheapo brackets, and notice how they are designed. I've persoanlly used these on my sister's eclipse, and they fall faster then rain.
Teh brackets OEM people use, use those springs to help absorb shock, that sping keeps it attached so there is no actual movement. Complicated but it works.
