Single stage question
Just wondering, but is it possible to wet sand and buff a single stage (no clear) paint job to get rid of some orange peel and make it really shine? Is there anything special I have to be aware of?

I don't think you can. i have been doing some research on the same subject. if you sand a single stage paint you will ruin the clearcoat and the car will not shine. This is what I have found so far.

Yes, acutally you can sand single stage paint. About a year back i had to paint the hood of my grand am and i painted it with PPG DCC single stage and when it hardened i sanded it with 800 grit, then 1500 grit paper and then went over that with a buffer. you just gotta make sure the compound that your using is for the type of paint and shade of color.

Any metallic in the paint, and it will burn the metallic and look "splotchy".
Solid red, black, white, and you'll be ok.

Start w/ 1500g, preferrably meguiar's paper. Buff with a good compound. 3M Perfect it is a good quality compound. finish with a foam pad and Perfect it polish.
